The unfortunate reality is that neither party is going stop abortions from happening. McCain will “let the debate happen”, whatever that means, and the debate will go on until no-one cares to argue any more, and nothing will be done.
Obama is, at least, honest about not doing anything.
That’s the thing though. It’d be one thing for Obama to not do anything - not take a position, veto any and all legislation, etc. That’s not what he’s (purportedly) going to do. He’s going to do the radically opposite, opinions other than his be damned. He’s out to overturn any thing that has to do with abortion, thus leaving it carte blanche legal.
I have hope that a growing life-valuing ethic will take hold and control of the regulation of abortion. People will always care - and so the debate will always linger whether or not it is actually had.
