Starbucks Coffee

I had the best interview on Monday. I don’t know if I got the job at all, I never know that. But, I mean where else could I drink coffee while answering questions about my work experience? Answer: Starbucks. :) This up coming Monday I have a second interview at 9:30am. So if ya think about it, please send up a prayer for me, I really need a job. Ive been told I’m applying at the perfect place for me. Id have to agree for this season of my life. Its not a 9-5 that would be harder to get time off from. Its got early hours that let me have the rest of my day to do whatever I need to do. Though, the idea of waking up at 4am is not a pleasant thought at all. I get free coffee, I mean come on, that’s the real reason I’m applying there. I figured out my addiction to Starbucks: outta sight, outta mind. In Tuscaloosa, I could probably could count on two hands how many times I actually got coffee there. I didn’t see it unless I went to Target (the Starbucks was inside Target. The only other one was on the side of U of A that I barely went to). If I don’t see a Starbucks, I’m not tempted to go out and get coffee there. Its just something about those green letters that beacons my name and I’m drawn inside and without knowing it handing them 4 bucks for a latte. Oh but I am so happy when I put my lips around that green straw. Worth every penny of that 4 dollars suddenly. This theory of mine was proven at lunch today. My friend Jenna and I were meeting up for lunch at Rubio’s (yay for fish tacos!) and its right next door to a Starbucks. Now, knowing this, I prepared myself, texted message Jason telling him this and I know I shouldn’t get anything but I probably will. He calls, the moment I walk out of Starbucks with my Iced Grande Toffee Nut Latte

“Did you go to Starbucks yet?”

“I’m drinking it as we speak.”

“Dang it, I didn’t make it in time, I’m too late.”

:) :) :) :) :) :) :) :)

  4. trey says:

  8. Sarah says:

YUMMMMY fish tacos! Yay for me moving to Charlotte where they have a Baja Fresh :) (I think? at least they have one in Greensboro…) And yeah, I think we should take bets on how long it takes Alisa to get sick of Starbucks if she gets the job…I think it’ll take her longer than 3 months…maybe 6 months? Who knows :) Hope you get the job Alisa! :)

  9. Um, I’m terrified that Target, one of my favorite stores ever for it’s amazingly well designed products, has a Starbucks inside. I like Starbucks because they have consistently good coffee (and yes, I can tell the difference between the Verona, Ethiopian Sidamo, and Gazebo blend) and they have great indie music on their samplers (Rosie Thomas, Iron and Wine, Sarah Harmer). Yeah, they’re a large corporation, oh well, so’s Apple. They both just happen to do their respective trades really well, otherwise people wouldn’t buy from them. I think the problem is that many of us have a tendency to root for the underdog just because he’s the smaller guy. If Microsoft is ever gets broken up and Apple became bigger we’d find someone else to back. And yes, I’ve gone to the Mom and Pop Coffee Shops, but there coffee usually isn’t as good.

I’ll definitely be praying for you and your job. I was thinking about you today wondering if you had gotten the job at Starbucks..good luck!!!

  11. Jordan says:

  12. scott says:

i’m with trey, support the local places. but i also wanted to say, that girl in the picture on first glance kind of looks like you. completely freaky!

  13. alisa says:

Tom, for some reason it suprises me that your for Starbucks more so than not.

  14. April says:

ALISA!! You and I are so much alike in this repsect. All my friends give me such a hard time about how much time I spend at Starbucks, but good grief!! The place is right around the corner from my house… And it most definitely frightens me to think of how much money I actually spend at Starbucks in one summer… YIKES.

But really! That would be the perfect job for you! I was thinking of applying there for a summer job next year. I mean, not right now, but when I get closer to that time. Think about it! Teachers need a summer job at Starbucks. Especially when you are as addicted to it as I am!!

Let me know what happens with the whole job thing! :)
