Share the…well?

The other day, my coworker told me that her boyfriend and herself were digging a trench to their neighbor’s home since their well had gone dry. A well? The image of Snow White’s wishing well at Disneyland flashes through my head. “Wait, you get water from a well?”, I ask They explain to me its not a well where they have to put a bucket down and pull it up and thing bring water to the house. I understood that and also the water the well collects is from the ground. Their well apparently only had 6 inches of water left in it and they couldn’t take showers or anything like that. This is what send me over the edge,

“So, wait a second, you have no water running at your house?”

“No, we have running water. The well is just dry.”

“Yeah, I got that. But you cant take showers becasue there is no water.”

“Well, theres sorta drought becasue of lack of rain.”

“I understand that too but wait, its 2007, right?”

“Yeah.”

“And we live in the United States of America, right?”

“Uh huh.”

“It just seems really strange, as in, I can not wrap my head around why in this day in age in America, you are without water.”

“We cant get city water in the country.”

You can see how this conversation went. Lucky for me, they thought I was funny to bring up that in 2007. In the United States. They have no water. I apparently am really a city girl becasue I never would of thought someone would be without water who lives, oh, 20 minutes from me.

I have come to the dark side.

I know all that stuff about materialism, about things not making you happy and all that, I really believe it’s true. But when you need a tool (and that’s all this is) for your job (and that’s partly what this is), it might as well be a finely tuned, fine-looking machine (and that’s exactly what this is).

One of the best things about Mac stuff is the way they package it. When you open the box you’re greeted not with styrofoam peanuts and their unearthly squeaking but with a sleek silver-grey box greeting you with a welcome message from Apple, written in the most pleasing font. You slide the machine out of its cradle and it feels like you’re an archaeologist pulling treasure from Tut’s sarcophagus. Knowing that the thrill will wear off in a matter of minutes only makes me enjoy more it while it lasts. -Andrew Peterson

So, I ordered a Mac Book Pro the other night. Marla is starting to give me a few problems and Jason has been trying to talk me into getting a Mac for ages. My whole family switch to Mac years ago, never mind that I was borne and practically raised (I used how to use a computer in school, which was on an apple) on a PC. Seriously, for a while all that I knew to be true was completely shattered. I love Marla. Its hard to even type the news to her that she will be getting a new brother. But just maybe I will feel like Andrew Peterson and Marla will retire and think about the happy life she has lead.

"who put...

“Who put shit on the fridge?!”

My roommates and I do not know who put this word on our fridge. But I find it very funny and clever since I was the one who said “Who put shit on the fridge?” Very, very clever.

(After some research we do believe it was one of Kelly’s guy friends who helped her move in. I like that guy.)

There are a handful of half written blog posts saved on my computer. I’ll start to write them my creativity just fizzes out. I blame it to lack of photo taking. Its just been so hot out that I don’t really want something up against my face in the heat. My main creative outlet is currently dry and it seems the other outlets are suffering becasue of it. Im currently uploading and printing photos to catch my photo album. Realizing I miss film so very much. Jason and I are going to friends of his concert tonight. This band is going to be in Japan for about two months playing shows, so its a big hoopla tonight since they will be gone for a while. Jason is gonna use Owen and I will bring my Cannon film. I’ve taken film concert photos at this venue before, so I hope it as good to me as it was last time. Before I get to do that, I get to close at my store. Closing is sorta draining me as well, and there a small light at the end of the tunnel for them to end. Cant wait for that light to show up really. But tonight I get to close with a friend so it should be fun none the less. Then I get the whole weekend off to help Jason pack and get ready for his move soon into a house. Really happy for him to have a house instead of living in an apartment. Though it will take a lot to get me out of my current place since I suffered through a summer of restorations and well the rent is such a steal. I shall try not to anger the weather by saying this, but Im really ready for fall. Some of the trees have started to change colors, which is such a tease in this heat. I have an idea of somehow getting some good Alabama football tickets and going with my pastor down to Tuscaloosa for a weekend to watch. Him and I are both fans, though I know his love runs deeper than mine for the Crimson Tide. Cute sweaters. Scarves. Football. Summer has been nice, but crisp evening on the porch watching the leaves fall just sounds too lovely right now.

You’ve been on my mind

I’ve been busy. Good busy, and really we are always busy in some form or another so I don’t even know why I make that statement. Though five years ago I don’t think I was this busy, but again its a good busy. The last two days I had off (after a weekend off!) and literally was barely on the internet. I’m paying for it now having over a hundred blog entries to catch up with. I feel so out of the internet loop! But one thing for sure is screaming across the blog world is that it is hot! Honestly, yeah its hot and I’m not one to really venture outside (keeps me away from spending money I don’t have anyhow) but if I need to run an errand I could bare it. I don’t know if I would of said that last summer! I would of believe I was melting and want to be back home. Well I do want to be back in California, but not solely for the cooler weather. I wont see California till Christmas time.

That’s my next thing, Christmas in summer. No I’m not putting up lights or busting out the Christmas carols, but I do have Christmas on the brain. Maybe its becasue I’m a January baby and have no birthday celebration to look forward to later in the year. Whenever I’m out and about I see things I want, I write it down (or update my amazon wish list). If Jason is with me I say “I want this for Christmas!” He replies “You say that like Christmas is around the corner, I am not going remember this stuff.” I think I’ve always had this problem in summer months, finding Christmas presents. But come Christmas and people ask what I want, I’m too catch up in the season to remember all my wishes from summer. This year I’ve gotten smart and have a good list going, though I am feeling a bit greedy. I guess I do have time to trim it down.

There are freshly painted bookshelves in my room. This has been a project of mine since I moved in… oh last November. I’ve been here for nine months and I’m just getting around to projects! Next thing to is to hang photos on the wall. So unlike me to not have photos on the walls, if you saw my childhood bedroom (especially teenage years) you be blown away by my bare walls. I will be working on that – its not like I don’t have the frames sitting here just waiting to be filled or anything. Dana and I cleaned out the kitchen of stuff (whole big box full) that has been left by past girls who lived here. Why do people leave their crap? We don’t want your crap! We had to make room for our new roommate who will be moving in next week. Feels so good to get the house clean (spring cleaning in the summer, it works. Too hot to go out anyways, remember.) and putting it together in a collaboration of all of us.

lame excuse for an update

Currently I’m listen to music from the soundtrack of Music and Lyrics, please don’t judge me. Its just way too fun not to listen to. This afternoon I have been cleaning fish bowls, trying unsuccessfully putting together a metro shelf and making the house pretty for my home bound room mate. The past two months, Ive essentially have lived alone. My other roommate who just moved out a couple days ago apparently cant stand a single bug ever in her room in order to stay here. Downstairs was being everything cept ripped out (new floors, new paint, etc etc). My homeward bound roommate has been in Thailand for two months on a missions trip. Both picked the greatest two months to not be living here, since its been like living in a construction zone. Now maybe that they’d moved in downstairs we will have real internet yet again. This weekend I will get my overseas roommate back and my new roommate will move in. I hope I adjust okay to having the house all to myself to living with two girls again.

I mentioned to Jason last night that this summer seems cooler than last. Maybe I jinxed us all by saying that, but really, theres only been about a week this summer were I just hated going outside. Its not that I mind heat, its more the matter I get into my car or walk a short distance and Im sweaty. I dont really sweat but in this nasty humid that invades North Carolina in the summer, I do. And its gross, which is really my only complaint with it. As nice as summer has been, Im ready for fall. For the crisp autumn nights and falling colorful leaves. See, your ready for it now too arent ya?
