afternoon + kitchen aid = lots of cookies

Today was the day (randomly) that I broke in our shiny red Kitchen Aid mixer. What girl doesn’t dream of having one of these lovely mixers? And the first time I got to use it is in my pretty ‘sparkling lake’ blue kitchen with splashes of red everywhere. Love it so much.

Baking is what brought me and my Kitchen Aid together this afternoon. When Jason and I were in New York there was a tea store not even half a block from our hotel that I visited often while we were there. I wish I got to try all, I do believe, 50 loose leaf teas they had. I only had a small sample of their glorious tea along with some shortbread tea cookies. There was tea IN the cookies you guys! I found a couple of shortbread tea cookies online and finally settled on Martha’s Stewart’s Earl Grey Tea Cookies . While those spent some time in the freezer I felt like baking something else and found these Chocolate Waffle Cookies . Honestly, they were fine, but just tasted like chocolate waffles to me. Jason they they were good but could probably be a little more crispy. The tea cookies turned out pretty tasty, not the same as the ones in New York of course, but they will do. Im ready to have a proper tea time now. Thank you Kitchen Aid mixer.

What went on today…

  • Tonight for youth group I think we should forget the plan and just hang out, stomp on some leaves in this perfectly lovely day. #
  • Apparently Im in a baking mood. Kitchen Aid finally gets to be used! And I get to wear my cute apron that my talented friend made me. Winwin #
  • HOWEVER, melting butter and chocolate chips over low heat is so dumb. I have made and ate a sandwich in the time it has taken to melt. #
  • Boys club before the Core http://yfrog.com/j6mz0j #
  • One of my Seniors turned 18 today. Her first thought? "I could go to jail!" Not what I thought of when I turned 18. #
  • I love my mom. (via @kennardsmith) me too. She's pretty great. in reply to kennardsmith #
  • Hay Bays on Amazing Race was stressful but at the same time I like that they brought them back (they wont be there when I go on the race). #

One of my favorites. I wish I took dozens upon dozens more of the buildings. Nothing like them.

A cup, a cup, a cup ...
