A word of advice.
If you have some big life changes, and you want to tell your extended family about them, it’s a good idea to give them a call. But be warned… if you leave them voicemails saying you have big news, you will get about fifteen messages in response that say, in effect, the following.
OH MY GAH ARE YOU PREGNANT THAT IS SO EXCITING IT’S ABOUT TIME I WAS WONDERING WHEN YOU GUYS WOULD HAVE KIDS BABY BABY BABY I HEART BABIES WHEN ARE YOU DUE WHAT ARE YOU NAMING IT OMG BBQ COOCHIE COOCHIE COO WHEN ARE YOU COMING HOME SO WE CAN HAVE A SHOWER AND MAKE YOU EAT MELTED CANDY BARS OUT OF DIAPERS BABIES BABIES YAY
Then, when you tell them your news is actually house- and job-related, and not at all baby-related, you will get a half-hearted, fully-disappointed “Oh, congratulations. That’s… great.” Then you will both feel bad. And you will also feel annoyed and frustrated and glad you don’t live there where they can bug you about babies ALL THE TIME.
Good grief, people.

they make the pregnant ladies eat melted candy bars out of diapers at baby showers now? that’s kind of gross.
The beatings will commence if anyone makes me eat melted candy bars out of diapers at any of our showers.
…and we know EXACTLY what you are talking about Brandi. Just wait and see what happens if you actually DO get pregnant. Then you get weekly appeals for updates… “um, we’re still pregnant. That’s it. Thanks.”
yeah…kids….you’re about to adopt like 40 kids. Just send your folks pictures of them and call them your kids. It’ll work…i swear…
BOO TO THEM! Your news is so exciting, Brandi. I think you and I know as youth people, we have our kids thankyouverymuch (though I dont have the pressure to have babies quite like you do).
ok i have to know which one of our crazy relatives left those messages for you. and mom wants to know why she didn’t get the big news about the baby (ill hit her for you if you want me to)
