How do you know when to hold your ground and when to give in?
I know what the right choice is here. I know that giving in will preserve the peace and make the future a lot easier to deal with. I know that holding my ground will cause what is probably unnecessary conflict. I know that part of my motivation for holding my ground is that they are being stubborn and I am being spiteful.
I just hate looking like the bad guy. I hate knowing that I could make one decision that would technically solve our issues, but it’s not a decision I am willing to make. It solves everyone’s issues but ours. We have to compromise, we have to put on a happy face, we have to give up part of something that we only have a bit of to begin with.
And no matter what ends up happening, things will be weird. Whatever the resolution, somethings been lost. Something that should be good and sweet and meaningful has become stressful and bitter and angsty.
And that sucks, whether I give in or hold my ground.
Ugh. I’m sorry.
