Help me decorate my house, please. April 9, 2008
This is the console table in my living room.
I love everything about it except for that picture of grass, although I do love how the hippo and rhino kind of look like they’re frolicking in it. But it’s not working for me there… I think it’s too dark and that side of the room needs some color. I have decided on this poster from sfgirlbybay on etsy, but we are a house divided when it comes to color.
One of us likes the gold:

BLUE!

GOLD!
I thought the second color was going to be green. And I thought, “Oh! Green! I vote green!” Then I scrolled down and saw that it was blue. I guess that would be too much green in the room.
I am of two minds. I like blue on that wall, with the lampshade. But I like gold with the other things in the room. I think the gold and the lampshade are too much together. Maybe.
I am not good with colors. I should just not vote.
Oh, and I think you should go for orange throw pillows!

Scott – I read a lot of home design blogs, and one of them linked to it the other day. I love it.
Kari – I would have leaned toward green, too, but green is my default option for everything and I am trying to branch out. Plus, the green she has is kind of lime-y and our room is more olive-y.
I need more votes! A tie simply will not do.
have i told you how much i love your dot pictures? i am not sure if they are supposed to elicit happy feelings of childhood playing connect four, but i think they do.
The gold will brighten up that side of the room more than the blue, and that is hard for me to say because blue is my absolute favorite color. I’m going with the gold.
I like the gold for that room, though my personal preference would be for the blue.
Have you written about the dot pictures before? Where in the world did you get them? So in love.
They are from IKEA. I love them so much.
