Dec 1 – Ran errands with CeeLo and we both survived.
Dec 2 – I discovered disco baby pants.
Dec 3 – Took Campbell to meet Santa.
Dec 4 – Really beautiful music in church.
Dec 5 – Restful day at home with Campbell watching Gilmore Girls reruns.
Dec 6 – Delicious and trashy Taco Bell dinner.
Dec 7 – Rocked out all our Christmas shopping online during one baby nap.
Dec 8 – I discovered kids consignment stores.
Dec 9 – Successful trip to the mall with the kid, including a feeding.
Dec 10 – Sushi lunch with a friend.
Dec 11 – Really lovely Christmas music service at church.
Dec 12 – Youth Christmas service. So much fun.
Dec 13 – Went to staff meeting for the first time in two months, didn’t die.
Dec 14 – Fun youth staff dinner.
Dec 15 – Big lock in shopping trip with Aaron and Campbell.
Dec 16 – First ever youth group lock in! Nerf tag in the worship center and a high school only room, win.
Dec 17 – Lock in is over! Everyone survived! Adults are tired but want to do it again!
Dec 18 – Lunch after church with our home from college kids.
Dec 19 – Fun leadership party followed by packing CeeLo up for her first ever overnight drive to Texas.
Dec 20 – Survived the drive, hung out with my family, so restful and fun.
Dec 21 – Dinner with Aaron’s brother and his wife and daughter. So nice to get to hang with them outside of major family time.
Dec 22 – High school friend night! Kids everywhere! So fun!
Dec 23 – Spent the day with my favorite college friend Nikki.
Dec 24 – Lovely day baking and wrapping gifts and watching football and warning store clerks about my dad’s imminent arrival.
Dec 25 – The most relaxing Christmas day of my life.
Dec 26 – Chicken fried chicken. Biscuits. Whole bowls of gravy for each person.
Dec 27 – Chopped brisket, grilled sausage, white bread, sweet tea.
Dec 28 – Overnight drive home. HOOOOOME.
Dec 29 – Campbell was super fussy so we put her in the car and got donuts. Win-win.
Dec 30 – Relaxing day with our little family.
Dec 31 – Fun, chilled out New Year’s Eve with good friends. Also, baby tutu.

Oct 1 – Loooooong hectic crazy day. For me. Great for the kids on the retreat.
Oct 2 – Survived the weekend, took a four-hour nap, went to bed two hours later.
Oct 3 – Church baby shower! So overwhelmed with love and support and generosity.
Oct 4 – Spent the afternoon sorting gifts and returning multiples. So much awesome.
Oct 5 – Really fun baby shopping trip with Aaron. He is hilariously cute about this whole thing.
Oct 6 – Fun lunch with a kid who moved away. Fried chicken!
Oct 7 – Chill night at home.
Oct 8 – Fun Saturday out with Aaron.
Oct 9 – Movie date. With Aaron, but also with George Clooney and Ryan Gosling.
Oct 10 – Good youth group discussion about wealth and need.
Oct 11 – One month til baby!
Oct 12 – Spontaneous dinner date and the discovery of Crossfit competitions on ESPN.
Oct 13 – Hospital tour and baby class! It’s getting real, y’all.
Oct 14 – Super awesome shower with my favorite people. Marche and Etsy. Great party.
Oct 15 – Lots of baby prep work, including the purchase of stretchy silver denim leggings.
Oct 16 – Baby laundry! Probably the only time I’ll think it’s cute!
Oct 17 – Day off from youth group = steaks on the grill.

Oct 19 – We met with our awesome new pediatrician. Bow tie and stripey socks on an old doctor guy? Yes.

Oct 21 – Super fun Halloween party. We went as Beyonce and Jay-Z. Obviously.
Oct 22 – Fun fall festival at the church.
Oct 23 – Baby craft day!
Oct 24 – What I thought would be a rough youth night turned out pretty good.
Oct 25 – Long tiring day, made better by a solo lunch with a book.
Oct 26 – We thought my water broke. It didn’t. Then we ate tacos and went to a Waterdeep show. There was a whole-room singalong to Sweet River Roll. I cried.
Oct 27 – Doctor says baby is coming any day!
Oct 28 – Avetts!
Oct 29 – Lazy day. Trying to take advantage of our last non-parent weekends.
Oct 30 – Got some AMAZING new chairs for the living room. It’s like we’re grown ups.
Oct 31 – Youth group Halloween party! So fun.

Sept 1 – Really good discussion in book club.
Sept 2 – This baby is coming in ten weeks. TEN WEEKS.
Sept 3 – Aaron’s brother and his wife and daughther came to visit! Delicious brunch followed by Sweet Cici’s.
Sept 4 – Delicious lunch and the Warhol exhibit at the Frist with the family.
Sept 5 – Toured the Ryman and walked downtown with the family, then a fun night with friends.
Sept 6 – Very productive day.
Sept 7 – Coworker was driving me insane and I didn’t kill ANYONE.
Sept 8 – Fellow book club member was driving me insane and I didn’t kill ANYONE.
Sept 9 – Great girls night out with a new friend.
Sept 10 – Two new youth events, nerf dart tag and spa makeover night, were big successes.
Sept 11 – Lazy football nap day.
Sept 12 – Good discussion in youth group.
Sept 13 – I killed it at the Missoni sale at Target AND we left for vacation. Fabulous day.
Sept 14 – Savannah! Waffles, trolleys, old church tours, nap, gorgeous city, parmesan grits, river walk, gourmet ice cream.
Sept 15 – Cemetery tour! Beach! Sushi!
Sept 16 – Started furnishing the nursery at IKEA.
Sept 17 – Made pumpkin molasses cookies for a fun barbecue with friends.
Sept 18 – Great hangout with friends, and COACH WON THE EMMY.
Sept 19 – One of my volunteers spoke in youth group for the first time and did a great job.
Sept 20 – Got a ton of work done for fall retreat.
Sept 21 – Sold the guest room furniture! It’s nursery time!
Sept 22 – We started painting the nursery. And by we, I mean Aaron.
Sept 23 – Kari came to town! We saw a haunted hitchhiker! Women’s retreat begins!
Sept 24 – Great day at the retreat with Susan Isaacs, brisket tacos, late night girl time.
Sept 25 – Yet another football nap day. I love Sundays.
Sept 26 – Really good discussion in small group about what it means to be part of the bigger picture.
Sept 27 – Made the official Week Of Retreat To Do List.
Sept 28 – Justin Beiber was in town resulting in hilarious texts from my girls as they chased him around.
Sept 29 – Went to a gender reveal party for a friend. Our girl’s BFF is going to be a BOY.
Sept 30 – The first ever GPYG fall retreat began. Great first night.

 

Good Things in August.

I know how much you’re all dying to know what I did every day. Two months ago. 2011 is totally the year of my blog.

Aug 1 – Reading lunch at Zoe’s. Delicious and informative.
Aug 2 – Great youth staff meeting. This year is going to be great.
Aug 3 – Got Spotify. I feel cool and stressed out.
Aug 4 – Holiday World!
Aug 5 – Cleaned house while listening to a custom playlist made by Mike.
Aug 6 – Late night sushi date.
Aug 7 – Giant relay race for upcoming 6th graders! So much fun.
Aug 8 – Fall kick off cookout!
Aug 9 – Dinner with the college kids.
Aug 10 – Great birthday! Tiramisu, awesome gifts, and a night out dancing to an 80s cover band.
Aug 11 – I survived the glucose test! I don’t know if I passed, but I did not pass OUT.
Aug 12 – Finally bought some real maternity clothes AND a sushi/donut date.
Aug 13 – Lots of vintage furniture shopping with Aaron.
Aug 14 – Relaxing nap day.
Aug 15 – First youth service of the school year! And I passed the glucose test!
Aug 16 – I was a few minutes late to get breakfast at Chick-Fil-A but they gave me chicken minis ANYWAY.
Aug 17 – FINALLY cleaned out my office from moving in. Six months ago.
Aug 18 – My friend Allison came through town. Great visit, delicious food, REISLING-PEAR SORBET.
Aug 19 – Bonded with a friend over a shared knowledge of random Barenaked Ladies lyrics.
Aug 20 – Delicious dinner at a new indian restaurant.
Aug 21 – Really beautiful music service at church.
Aug 22 – First high school girls small group of the semester. Love those girls so much.
Aug 23 – Dinner with one of my favorite college girls.
Aug 24 – Aaron got a great new client.
Aug 25 – Flew to Texas! Lunch with mom! Swimming!
Aug 26 – So. Much. Shopping.
Aug 27 – Baby shower with my high school friends and their moms. So thankful to still be close with them.
Aug 28 – Family baby shower. So many tiny pink outfits. And rainbow jello.
Aug 29 – Meeting with all the new youth parents. So excited about this year.
Aug 30 – Met with our new small group for the first time. Hoping to make some new friends.
Aug 31 – Fun catch up dinner with good friends. Also, lamb.

 

Good Things in July. August 13, 2011

July 1 – Survived the big pre-camp Walmart trip. It’s exhausting.
July 2 – Finished packing for camp with two days to go. It’s a miracle.
July 3 – We were in bed by 9:30 in advance of our 4am wake up call.
July 4 – Successfully got 50 people loaded, transported and settled into camp two states away.
July 5 – Finished our work day with a great afternoon of thrifting with the high schoolers.
July 6 – Youth group conga line around Johnny Rocket’s.
July 7 – We killed it at the camp talent show with our thrift store fashions and dancing.
July 8 – I won the camp youth pastor challenge by bouncing ping pong balls onto peanut butter toast.
July 9 – Hhhhhoooooommmmeeeeee.
July 10 – Nap nap nap.
July 11 – Post-camp pizza party!
July 12 – Day off. So much sleeping.
July 13 – Talked a lot about camp. Got emotional.
July 14 – Very positive doctor’s appointment.
July 15 – Harry Potter premiere!
July 16 – Easy going Saturday.
July 17 – Our house got filmed for HGTV and we had a fun night of accidental karaoke.
July 18 – Ultimate frisbee in the rain.
July 19 – Sweet tea happy hour and brisket tacos.
July 20 – Lake day with the youth group! So much fun.
July 21 – Great discussion in book club.
July 22 – A night alone at home = frozen pizza and Little Miss Sunshine.
July 23 – Um, I ate frozen pizza again. Don’t judge me.
July 24 – Post-church brunch with a friend. Croissant french toast, y’all.
July 25 – Potentially disastrous youth night turned out really fun.
July 26 – Nine years! Celebrated by book shopping and eating steak and fries.
July 27 – We got our Avett Brothers tickets!
July 28 – Nice relaxing night at home.
July 29 – I got a little crafty for the nursery.
July 30 – Movie date!
July 31 – Carseat stalked a couple in Whole Foods and scored a discount.

June 1 – Dinner and Peanut(!) with new friends. It’s always weird when other people know your family games.
June 2 – Took the afternoon off for napping.
June 3 – Delicious frozen pizza for dinner. Don’t judge.
June 4 – Really fun birthday party for old acquaintances/new friends. I love it when that happens.
June 5 – Lunch date and vintage shopping. Great afternoon.
June 6 – Great turnout for ultimate frisbee night.
June 7 – A failed attempt at a college night turned into a great night with some of our old youth kids.
June 8 – Harry Potter in the park! Grilled cheese from a truck! Cupcakes!
June 9 – Got to spend the evening reading.
June 10 – Cinnamon Toast Crunch for lunch.
June 11 – Mad Men party for a great friend. We lost the newlywed game but we looked awesome.
June 12 – MAVS WIN! Unreal.
June 13 – I smoked a bunch of middle school girls in bowling. Possibly there were bumpers.
June 14 – Aaron had plans and I watched Almost Famous and made Texas Sheet Cake.
June 15 – Dinner with good friends.
June 16 – Girl! It’s a girl! Sometimes doctor’s appointments are actually fun.
June 17 – Nice afternoon shopping for swimsuits and birthday gifts.
June 18 – Lazy rainy day.
June 19 – Aaron went to Babies R Us with me and then we went to a grown up party at Pump It Up. Super fun.
June 20 – Burger and a chai milkshake post-doctor. Delicious.
June 21 – Bought my plane ticket to go home in August!
June 22 – Got my camp clothes shopping done.
June 23 – Aaron bought a onesie. Cutest thing ever.
June 24 – Movie date! Super 8 for Aaron, Midnight in Paris for me.
June 25 – Bought baby legwarmers. This is fun.
June 26 – Survived the big camp Walmart trip.
June 27 – No big deal, just 50 people decorating mexican wrestler masks for camp.
June 28 – Magically delicious barbecue lunch at Whole Foods.
June 29 – Sarah Masen! Thad Cockrell! Griffin House! U2 tribute benefit show for the Contributor.

May 1 – I… accidentally cussed from the stage at church.
May 2 – The kids were extra hilarious tonight.
May 3 – Got to hang out with a fun youth mom and watch her kid play tennis.
May 4 – Frozen yogurt with a kid. Good discussion.
May 5 – Fruit bouquet from my family for Mother’s Day! They rule.
May 6 – Mavs! Mavs! Mavs!
May 7 – Watched a couple of my kids in a really cute play.
May 8 – We launched the most amazing fundraiser in the history of fundraisers.
May 9 – Great high school discussion in class tonight.
May 10 – Chick-Fil-A for lunch. The baby likes it.
May 11 – Nice staff meeting and lunch at a retreat center.
May 12 – Ron Swanson dancing.
May 13 – Our house went up for sale. Sad but good.
May 14 – Awesome service project with the kids. They packed about ten billion food boxes.
May 15 – The kids did a skit for the kid’s classes in Sunday School. It ruled.
May 16 – We announced the pregnancy to the youth group. They were super excited and then started bribing us to name it after them. So fun.
May 17 – We told the world about the baby. The world was nice to us in return.
May 18 – Therapeutic and delicious lunch with coworkers.
May 19 – Good doctor’s appointment! Healthy! We find out what it is next month!
May 20 – Good meeting with my boss, Reba Behind the Music, yard sale poster making, price-tagging all our crap.
May 21 – Yard sale! We sold a ton of stuff, met a bunch of crazies, made a bunch of deals. Fun day.
May 22 – Went to see a play a friend wrote. It was hilarious and amazing.
May 23 – End of school cookout at youth group! Food and games and lots of fun.
May 24 – Fun girls dinner and trashy tv watching night.
May 25 – Mavs! Mavs! Mavs!
May 26 – So You Think You Can Dance started! The best show ever.
May 27 – Got some fun stuff for the nursery at the flea market.
May 28 – Watched three of my favorite kids graduate. So proud, but kind of sad.
May 29 – More graduating! Those things should have concession stands.
May 30 – Really fun Memorial Day cookout with friends.
May 31 – Dinner with some new friends. Good conversation and an amazing game of pea-nertz.

 

Good Things in April.

You guys are super interested in stuff that happened to me two months ago, right? RIGHT?

Apr 1 – Youth retreat started! Great kickoff talk from Aaron followed by an epic dance party extravaganza.
Apr 2 – Youth retreat day two! Our kids climbed up and jumped off a super scary pole thing and we had an awesome day. Finished with response stations scattered across the campground and some really moving moments with the kids. I love them so much.
Apr 3 – Youth retreat final day! Easy morning, lots of donuts, made it home, loooong nap. Awesome.
Apr 4 – Relaxing post-trip morning, fun youth night.
Apr 5 – I discovered Heartsy.
Apr 6 – First ultrasound! It’s really in there, y’all.
Apr 7 – America’s Best Dance Crew started! I love that show. Don’t judge me.
Apr 8 – Told some people about the baby who I thought would be annoying but were totally fun.
Apr 9 – Delicious chinese food for dinner.
Apr 10 – I spent the afternoon in the backyard with a great book.
Apr 11 – Fun conversation with a friend.
Apr 12 – Spent the day talking about Huey Lewis on Twitter. That’s the power of love, people.
Apr 13 – I thought we had a bad insurance situation on our hands but then it turned out we’d actually saved a bunch of money.
Apr 14 – Hilarious Parks & Rec episode. Man, that show rules.
Apr 15 – Discovered Milano Melts, the most amazing cookies ever.
Apr 16 – The kids built a food pantry for a facility that serves underprivileged kids.
Apr 17 – Watched one of my kids dance in a school play.
Apr 18 – Taco Bell for dinner. I should feel bad, but I definitely do not.
Apr 19 – Delicious birthday dinner with a friend. Brisket tacos for the win!
Apr 20 – Coffee with one of my favorite kids.
Apr 21 – Started painting the living room walls and ceiling. More fun than it sounds.
Apr 22 – Fun night with a friend – dinner and a show starring one of my kids. She rules.
Apr 23 – Fun day at the Easter Egg Hunt. Things are so much more enjoyable when I’m not running them.
Apr 24 – Enjoyed Easter Sunday, both at church and at home with friends.
Apr 25 – Good conversation with a youth group parent.
Apr 26 – Told more friends about the baby! This is getting fun. Except for the nausea.
Apr 27 – We got to dogsit for our neighbors. I miss having a dog around.
Apr 28 – Good discussion in book class.
Apr 29 – Royal wedding! Spent the morning watching and googling royal family business.
Apr 30 – Fun date day with Aaron, lunch and a John Lennon art exhibit.

Ah! So late this month! It has been a crazy few weeks.

Mar 1 – Got the bulk of the sessions planned out for the youth retreat. Getting excited!
Mar 2 – Took an afternoon nap.
Mar 3 – Haircut! Bangs! Color!
Mar 4 – Fun night with the music team at church.
Mar 5 – Stay at home date night with pot roast and Three Amigos.
Mar 6 – Laser tag and pizza with the high schoolers!
Mar 7 – I wrote about adoption and people were nice to me and didn’t give me assvice.
Mar 8 – Flew home! Le Madeleine and NorthPark with mom and sister.
Mar 9 – We found a place for my sister’s wedding and I got to have hang time with my friend Julie.
Mar 10 – Bridesmaid dress shopping!
Mar 11 – Drove to Austin, had a last-minute clothing catastrophe, attended the Denim and Diamonds rehearsal dinner, heard the legend of the Native American father-son hiking ritual, AWKWARD GAZELLE.
Mar 12 – Bought fabulous new shoes, figured out how to curl my hair, saw my super-sexy husband in his super-sexy wedding suit, watched my brother-in-law get married, danced and danced and danced.
Mar 13 – Ugh. Sick. But we had amazing pizza.
Mar 14 – Home! Felt like death but youth group was fun.
Mar 15 – Discovered Daria reruns. That show rules.
Mar 16 – Enjoyed acting like a teenager texting jokes with friends during a church meeting.
Mar 17 – Green shoes.
Mar 18 – Oh, you guys. So sick. Lots of TV watching.
Mar 19 – Dinner at a great place with some of my favorite youth parents/friends.
Mar 20 – Really weird day. Also, we cleaned out the storage shed. Both good things.
Mar 21 – Dinner and a movie with the youth group! They are so awesome.
Mar 22 – Kids on spring break, whole staff out of town, major retreat planning day in the silence.
Mar 23 – Went to see Gungor with some fun friends. Another weird but good day.
Mar 24 – I had to lead our book discussion group and it didn’t totally fail. Also got to watch one of my favorite youth girls compete in a Special Olympics swim meet.
Mar 25 – Retreat planning retreat planning retreat planning.
Mar 26 – Horse loose in the neighborhood! Seriously!
Mar 27 – Fun lunch with kids after church, fun video making with kids in the afternoon, fun party with friends in the evening.
Mar 28 – Watched some of the kids be awesome at skit practice for the retreat.

Good Things in February. March 7, 2011

Feb 1 – I finally got all the pictures off of my old blackberry. Lots of cute Miles pictures.
Feb 2 – A lady in the church had us over for tea and lunch. It was amazing.
Feb 3 – Drove around Franklin looking at neighborhoods. Found some good spots for the move to Franklin we’ll be making in ten thousand years.
Feb 4 – Gave a copy of “Roaring Lambs” by Bob Briner to one of my college kids.
Feb 5 – Finally found a dress to wear to Aaron’s brother’s wedding. So stressful.
Feb 6 – Super Bowl party! Great food and fun friends and pecan brownies.
Feb 7 – A weird freak mid-afternoon snowstorm canceled youth group. I hate canceling but I like unexpected nights at home.
Feb 8 – We had a potential adoption situation come up out of the blue. It didn’t work out, obviously, but it was a bit of an emotional game changer for us.
Feb 9 – Friday Night Lights finale. SO EMOTIONAL.
Feb 10 – Good phone talk with a friend.
Feb 11 – Made a cake from scratch.
Feb 12 – Ate pancakes and went roller skating with the middle school girls. It was awesome.
Feb 13 – Grammy party!
Feb 14 – Accidentally went to dinner where a bunch of people were on Valentine’s dates. It was awkward.
Feb 15 – Fun afternoon with our pastor’s daughter.
Feb 16 – The youth group mascot (a rubber chicken wearing a bikini) was rescued from the church rafters.
Feb 17 – Really nice coffee with a friend.
Feb 18 – My car hit 100,000 miles! Love that thing.
Feb 19 – Stressful week. Enchiladas and donuts make it better. Don’t judge.
Feb 20 – The middle school boys had a fun bowling and pizza day.
Feb 21 – Listened to the new Miranda Lambert record all day.
Feb 22 – Watched Greek. Cried.
Feb 23 – Hung out with our friends while they did our taxes. They are nice.
Feb 24 – Got Words With Friends on my phone! I am now officially playing TOO MUCH SCRABBLE.
Feb 25 – Very successful shopping day.
Feb 26 – Great service project with the kids.
Feb 27 – Oscars, pizza, wine, hummus, and Thin Mints with Becka.
Feb 28 – Delicious sushi and thai and good conversation with some youth staffers.
