Have you ever heard of Sandra Lee? She has this show on the Food Network called Semi-Homemade Cooking. And y’all, she plucks my very last nerve.
Look, I know what some of you are going to say. “But Brandy, Sandra Lee had a hard life. She had to raise her younger siblings. I read all about it on Wikipedia, so it must be true.” I don’t know Sandra Lee personally. I’m sure she’s a pleasant enough person. But why, dear Lord, does she have a cooking show? I simply cannot understand it.
To me, this is a Sandra Lee show.
First, she opens a can of Spaghetti-O’s.
Then she sprinkles some parsley on top of said Spaghetti-O’s. The homemade part.
She eats a few bites of this nastiness, moaning about how good it is. Or maybe she’s throwing up in her mouth a little.
Then she makes a “tablescape” out of the Spaghetti-O cans and a holly bush.
Then, for dessert, she sticks with the “O” theme and dumps a bag of mini donuts on a plate. Oh, and she sprinkles them with coconut. That’s the homemade part.
Finally, she makes a cocktail. Which consists of a bottle of vodka and a packet of grape kool aid.
And she gets paid for this.
I don’t understand it.
obviously the vodka and kool aid cocktail is the best part of that show. i’ve never watched her. i stick to maybe 4 or 5 shows. i stay away from shows like barefoot contessa and obviously sandra lee.
Is she that lady with the thick southern drawl and the big hair?
what’s wrong with spaghetti-O’s?
whats wrong with a bag o dOnuts?
SAndra is different. I think maybe she’d run out of ideas for this show. . . .or had too many of the koolaid cocktails before the show and couldn’t do anything better? I don’t know. I love the semi-homemade idea, so I”m trying to give SAndra the benefit of the doubt!
Ahahaha…everytime I see her on TV, I think back to the weekend on Hollie’s wedding and you yelling at her and I laugh to myself.
I dunno…sounds like an opiumed-up “Hell’s Kitchen” with Gordon Ramsay to me. Perhaps she has a few too many of the vodkas before she comes on the air? Also, is this the Food Network? Come on. There are only, what, 23 people watching that feed at any one time, right? She’s just cannon fodder until Rachel Ray or Ace of Cakes come on, anyway.
Hi Brandy….thought I would check out YOUR blog! I love it! I really love your sense of humor. I watch the Food Network way too much…and I have often thought the same thing about this particular show. =0) And seriously…who has time to build tablescapes???? I’m lucky to get food on the table with a 2 1/2 year old and 3 month old!
