Foodie Friday–Healthy Breakfast Bars

Posted by – February 27, 2009

This is only one of a handful of recipes that demonstrate my foray into healthier baking. I made these breakfast bars for a friend as a treat before her second marathon (weirdo), and although I didn’t actually try them, she said they were good. And now I have a pantry full of flaxseed and wheat bran, just waiting for my next experiement!

Foodie Friday–Noreos

Mmmmm, I love me some Oreos. And I’m not even an Oreo purist. I like Double-stuffed ones. I like the spring ones with the green filling. The Halloween ones with the orange filling. I like them dipped in chocolate. I like them dunked in milk. I even like the way they turn your teeth black when you eat them.

Which is one reason I set out to make my own homemade Oreos. Or Noreos, if you want to get technical–and punny. Head over to my food blog to see the results!

Foodie Friday

So we’ve got our man posts on Monday. But I’d like to also do foodie posts on Fridays. My purpose is two-fold. I want to cook more and try more things. And I also want to drive you to my food blog.

And on my foodie Friday posts, I’ll give you some background on the recipe, the preperation, etc.

We’ll see how this works!

For this week’s Foodie Friday post, I would like to share with you my Chocolate Strawberry Paninis. Okay, they’re not really mine, they’re my friend Giada De Laurentiis‘ . Okay, she’s not my friend. But I like to pretend that she is. Just like I like to pretend that Alton Brown is my dad.

I don’t get out much.

Anywho, back to the food. I love recipes like this. They look really nice and fancy. But they’re soooooooo easy. This seriously took me five minutes to make, start to finish. And that included the time it took me to eat several spoonfuls of Nutella.

Have you had Nutella? It’s like peanut butter’s rich, Italian uncle. Stinkin’ delicious.

By the way, this recipe would be GREAT for a Valentine’s brunch, or even a Valentine’s dessert. And I hate Valentine’s day, so that’s saying a lot :)
