I’m feeling better already.

a decision made

Tuesday, September 28th, 2004

well, after much deliberation (actually not that much), my friend Sharon and i decided to head to Twenty Manning for dinner on Thursday to enjoy Restaurant Week. Now, of course, the next deliberation will be what to order, but I think I can manage that one! Now, if only my cold/sinus/yukkiness would clear up by then. I have all the medications my little heart could desire, and my sinus headache still returned this afternoon. grr.

my brother the doctor tells me that this articlecould outline the problem of correct diagnosis. I read it and agree. i think i need an antibiotic. (sorry, i guess the article is membership-protected. it’s not that interesting–all about bacterial sinusitis diagnosis–lots of mucus talk)

restaurant week

Sept 26-Oct 1 is Center City Restaurant week in Philly. It means that some fantabulous restaurants in the city offer a thirty dollar menu–three courses for $30. I’m probably going on Wednesday or Friday, but it’s so hard to choose which place to go to. Right now, I am leaning towards Pasion! because I’ve heard it’s phenomenal and it’s one i probably couldn’t afford. then, i also think a nice little byob would be good since then i wouldn’t add a lot to the bill with a glass of wine. too many good options!

fall is here

Wednesday, September 22nd, 2004

what’s new this fall?

1. quizzes. i have my first one in my turkish class tonight. it’s been ages since i had to study. masada kalemler yar. (the pencil is on the table). i am so ready!

2. no choir practice on sunday and monday evenings. because of my class, i had to drop choir for the semester. i miss it already, although i thoroughly enjoyed getting to hear the choir sing last sunday evening during communion.

3. i found the perfect recipe for coconut cream pie. it is so amazing. it has a crust made from animal crackers, and it uses unsweetened coconut in the filling and toasted coconut on top of fresh whipped cream to finish it off. it was my triumph of the weekend.

nashvegas

So, if you aren’t doing anything on December 12th, you really should find your way to the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, TN, where Andrew Peterson will have his annual Christmas show.

I just bought my plane ticket for this, my third visit, to the home of country music. I never thought I’d be a person who’d FLY to a concert, but I can’t help myself. Plus, there are some great airfare sales right now–PHL to Nashville for $122!

First, the show is just phenomenal. Andy invites special guests to join him for an “in the round” songfest of outrageous talent. Last year, Alison Krauss was there! The second half of the show is his original retelling of the Christmas story, beginning in the Old Testament and culminating in the birth of Jesus. Thankfully, for those who can’t make it, he’s releasing a CD of the music this October (hopefully).

Second, the show offers a chance for a great get-together. Weird people from the internet converge on the city to see each other and this show. You should really should come.

his hair is reddish blonde–he’s absolutely adorable.
so they don’t feel left out, here are his siblings: bookamer kids

and here’s one of gracie, who is adjusting well to her new little brother. she calls him “baby guy” although i suggested “p. jesse” and she seems to have caught onto that pretty well! gracie

new nephew

Tuesday, September 7th, 2004

My sister Hannah had her fifth child last night at 8:32pm. So this is an official welcome for Pierson Jesse, who weighed in at 8 lbs, 5 ounces and measured 20.5 inches. His parents and his siblings, Exley, Briannah, Mason, and Grace are pretty excited about the new arrival! I’m looking forward to seeing him on Saturday.

relatively early

Friday, September 3rd, 2004

my cousin lara called me yesterday to say she would be breezing through town tomorrow. her parents are the aunt and uncle who are travelling around the country, so she no longer has a home base here in the area when she visits. we thought we’d miss each other this morning, with her flight getting in and my leaving for work, so she was just going to shower and nap at my place before heading out. but her plane got in early and she got there just as i was getting up, so we got to hang out for just a wee bit and catch up a little. she lives in Cali. so our visits are few and far between. i’m determined to get out there to visit her this year though.

it was a lovely way to start the day!
