i love fall. not just because the skies are blue and the air is crisp and the leaves are changing, but also because great music is happening! summer is the time of festivals and fairs, which i enjoy, but which do not come close to the more intimate setting of individual concerts. this fall looks to have a few interesting possibilities for me.
10/2 Bebo Norman (and Jason Morant and Bethany Dillon)
…ok that one’s past, and i really went because i knew gabe scott would be there playing with bebo. jm and bd were not my favorites.
10/13 the Roots at Penn (our new president’s favorite group apparently)
10/15 Bill Mallonee in Willow Grove*tentative–i may go home for the weekend instead
10/25 Indelible Grace in Glenside, PA
10/30 Reformation Hymn Festival at Tenth Presbyterian (not a concert, but music-related, so I’m listing it.
11/4 Joseph Parsons and Christopher Williams at The Point, Bryn Mawr, PA
11/9 Marc Cohn at World Cafe Live in Philadelphia
11/13 pedro the lion in Philadelphia
11/17 Eddie from Ohio at World Cafe Live
11/20 Caedmon’s Call in Burlington NJ
12/3 Andrew Peterson’s Christmas Tour in Greenville, SC
12/12 Andrew Peterson’s Big Christmas Show (see, all caps) at the Ryman in Nashville, TN
You forgot to mention the party you’re going to this weekend…
I’m also wondering if I can maybe crash at your place again for a few hours. I get in late Friday night (10:45pm) and I don’t know what I’m doing/how I’m getting anywhere on Saturday yet, but I just realized I don’t really have anywhere to stay.
The train from the airport is easy to your house right? It probably runs that late on a Friday….?
Have you actually heard The Roots before? If so, do you like them, or are they listed just because they are coming to your school?
Matt(who has all of The Roots albums and saw then during Moby’s Area One tour)
I recommend going to the Marc Cohn concert….if not to see Marc, but to hear his opening act, Vienna Teng. She is an amazing musician. I am going to hear her in Texas and Charlotte, NC this year.
I won’t even speak of the tragedy that is the Bill Mallonee concert.
But I’m in for I-grace…and would love to go to Christopher Williams and Eddie from Ohio, so keep me informed of your plans!
Matt, I haven’t seen the Roots before, but hear them on the radio occasionally. PLus, the concert’s free.
I hear the put on a great show.
Rose, I’m excited to hear Vienna Tang, but I have to say that Marc COhn is the bigger draw. He’s phenomenal.
Mark, will definitely keep you informed.
Lara, I emailed you!

Does anyone want to drive from New York to the Over the Rhine Christmas show on Dec. 11th in Cincinnati and then drive the next day to the Andrew Peterson Christmas Concert in Nashville with me?
I’ve never been to the Nashville christmas show. I am sorely tempted to take a trip out this year…
Tom–thanks for the additions. They look a little distant (you know, as opposed to greenville and nashville
). I would like to see Pierce in concert though.
Richard–you should make the trip to Nashville! It’s such an amazing show–I can’t stay away, and I’ve talked two friends into going with me. Remember Sharon, my roommate, who was with me at your house for the Lynchburg show? she’s coming down from Chicago.
Do you know what time the show starts? We’ve got little tykes to tend to… And I wouldnt’ want to go without my whole family. Plus, we’d need a place to stay. And… sheesh… tickets for just me and Megan would be fifty bucks… I don’t know if they’d charge the kiddos or not.
Hm.. not looking likely. oh well. Maybe I can catch a different show, though…
The Roots do put on a great show. You get a bunch of cool points for going.
GO SEE THE ROOTS!
i will be going to see the roots, although i have to go to my turkish class first. hopefully since the gates open at 6:30 and there’s an opener, i might still catch most of the show if i get there at 8. right???
