Turns out, we did have enough time to go to Bed, Bath, and Beyond

This whole wedding planning thing has gone a lot smoother than I think Sarah and I anticipated. Sarah has bought her dress, picked out bridesmaid dresses, booked the ceremony and reception sites (including food and drinks), ordered cakes, secured a DJ, and remained relatively calm and lighthearted about it all. Me? Well, I’ve started working on a wedding website… oh, and I registered for tools and camping stuff at Sears. I also called about chair prices for the outdoor ceremony.  Yep, I’m pretty much useless.

We did manage do make a big dent together this past weekend when we made a trip to Bed, Bath, and Beyond (B-3). We were planning on just gathering some information, but before we knew it we had a scanner in our hands and about a dozen employees started stalking us in the salt and pepper shaker aisle.

Did you know B-3 has an entire aisle dedicated to salt and pepper shakers? We’re talking up to $50 bucks for salt and pepper grinders.  If we get a $50 set of salt and pepper shakers, I hope they are magic.

Six hours, 4 bottles of water, 2 scanners, and a cutlery and cooking demonstration later, Sarah and I finished our first pass with over 200 items scanned into the system. It’s actually pretty exciting to think that some of the stuff could be ours. We’ve both been cooking on hand-me-down pots with dull knives, so I imagine these new pans and knives will release our inner-Top Chefs. And obviously the new vacuum cleaner will spark a renewed desire for cleanliness that I misplaced somewhere around my second or third week of college.  Obviously.

A few other things I learned within the aisles of B-3…

- B-3 apparently has items you can only buy if you are registering for a wedding… it’s like some secret club for engaged folks.  I may register for them just so I can rub it in my single friends’ faces.

- They had a CTA map shower curtain.  It was the single coolest thing I saw all day.

- Apparently after the half hour presentation and marketing points, picking a set of knives comes down to “which one feels better in your hand?”

-Note to any B-3 managers out there: beer.  Run with it.

Next on the list is Kohl’s… I think I’m taking a flask with me.

Yeah. The most important thing about knives is how they feel in your hand. If it’s not comfortable, you’re more likely to cut yourself.

BBB is easily the best place we registered. And their website is pretty nice too.

secret items? what a diabolical scheme! it is genius!

that reminds me, i need to go make a few wedding gift purchases this weekend. perhaps some of the things on the registries are the secret items. i will inquire.
