an update of sorts
By david On May 20th, 2004well, boys and girls, not a lot has been happening in my life as of late. a few days this week, i was working at a diesel truck repair garage…as a custodian. actually, the cleaning that i had to do was not so bad at all, cause i had one of those scrubber machines that you push, but the thing that sucked was not having anything to do. you see, i would clean the oil/grease/whatever off the floor after they finished working on a truck, but in between that, there was pretty much nothing to do. very boring. i can usually satisfy boredom at home, but when i’m at a job, i don’t feel comfortable just bringing a book and reading while everyone else is working on engines. so anyway, i’m done with that for now. we’ll see what the temp. service has for me next.
in other news, grady (lead guitarist of my band) is getting married next weekend. and i’m a groomsman. that’s cool to me, as i’ve never been one before. the last wedding i went to i got to be an usher, so i figure the next step is best man, and then i’ll be getting married myself. well, that last one may not be for awhile, but she’s out there somewhere. i actually get weirdly excited when i start to wonder about her. like what she’s doing right now, where she is…i just can’t help but smile in anticipation. at weddings, when everyone is watching the bride walk down the aisle, i almost always will be watching the groom. to see his reaction to seeing his bride in all her beauty is a marvelous thing, and it seriously produces a tear or two. it also makes me smile and be filled with joy at God’s wonderful provision of union between two people. i know when i’m up there and my bride walks in, so beautiful and, at that moment, perfect in my eyes, i’m gonna need someone to hold me up. i have a feeling i’ll be one of those guys that has trouble saying his vows without his voice cracking. and it’ll be wonderful. and now, i need to excuse myself from the computer…

The progression isn’t automatic. I’ve been a groomsman twice and the best man twice–and I have another best man role to do next May for my brother.
