Well, I finished…
The first book of the Chronicles of Narnia, better known as ‘The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe’ - I’m re-reading them in anticipation of the movie being released this December of the first book - they’re much easier to read than I remember, but then, the last time I read most of them, I was about 8 or 9 - loved them then, still love them - but I’ll have to wait to get started on the next one, since my HARRY POTTER #6 just came in the mail from the nice people at Amazon.com - I’m going to try to go through it slowly, since the next one won’t come out for sooooo long, but who knows - I might finish it this weekend…
Along the lines of the Chronicles of Narnia though - I love the part towards the end when the kids are talking about Aslan (Christ in the analogy) and someone, I think one of the Beavers, says, ‘He’s not a tame Lion’ - and they talk a little more about how kind and gentle, and yet powerful and strong, He is - it’s such a great picture of Christ as the meek servant, but also the King of Kings - fabulous!
Better run finish up my lab work or I won’t even get to start Harry - hehehe!

hahaha! Jonathan and I just picked up a copy of HP 6 today in Nantucket…but I’ve only read the first two chapters because today was the day of the wedding we were attending, but I’ve got two hours tomorrow morning on the ferry to read a bit more!!! I hope I’ll see you soon!!!
Love,
Frances

I forgot that that movie is coming out in December. I saw the trailor for it some time back and it looked pretty good. Hope they don’t screw up the spiritual analogy too bad.
As for my HP reading, I’ll have to wait till my sister gets done with it - then maybe I’ll have a chance at borrowing it.

I love that part of LW&W, too. CS Lewis brings it up in “The Horse and the Boy”, as well.
“Is he tame?” “No, but he is good.”
That is so much more comforting.

Yeah for HP and Narnia!!!!! It’s really the only fantasy-type lit I like to read - I have a lot of reading to do now to a)get through the Narnia Chronicles and b)re-read HP1-4 to make sure I understood what happened in HP6 - though the Narnia books are going really fast - of course, they’re much easier reading as an adult… Can’t wait for the movie - looks like it has a chance of being really good - but you’re right, Daniel, they’re a good chance the spiritual stuff will get all new-agey or something equally screwy - grrrr - oh well, we’ll have to insert our own interpretation of CSLewis as necessary!
