Update

OK, nothing deep today, just wanted to give a quick update on my life :)

I have the craziest weekend ahead of me – starting tonight, with a cookout at my boss’s house to celebrate one student graduating and a new student starting in the lab – should be fun, but I was only going to make this dessert (pic from last year’s cookout, actually – it was a hit, so I’m taking it again):

But yesterday we realized that we don’t have enough side dishes, so I ended up staying up late last night making a double recipe of my killer pasta salad – which I was planning on making for the next big event of the weekend (just not a double), the Department Cookout Sat at noon – I’m actually mostly going to see my classmate’s new baby (3.5 weeks old – awwww). Then driving home to Charlotte where I get to see my dad (!!!!!!!!) after him being gone for almost 4 weeks in Africa – yay! :)

I’ll also be spending the rest of Sat cooking/baking at home, getting ready for Sunday’s big event, hosting a wedding shower for my beautiful friend Frances (who’s now back in NC – sorry I missed your call Frances :( ) – should be nice to see them again before the wedding this summer, plus many of the other guests are also friends, so that will be nice too. Trying to come up with fun, non-embarassing games for the shower is proving to be difficult…

Finally, the drive back to Winston so I can do some work Monday (mostly cause I’m supposed to be mentoring a summer student again this summer and he starts then), then back on the road to Charlotte again (this time with company though :) ) for dinner with friends and ‘Over the Rhine’ in CONCERT!!!!! I’m pumped!

So if you’re exhausted just reading that, say a prayer for me this weekend – just cause it’s all good stuff doesn’t mean it won’t be tiring…
