Watching sports
I kind of have 3 points to make: First is, there seem to lots of guys and some girls who like to spend a lot of time watching sports. It seem that some people can watch hours and hours of sports every week. I’m not saying it’s not interesting, it just seems like there are better things to do in the world. I know I can waste a lot of time on the interenet, but I don’t always find that healthy either.
Second is how these sports shos on TV and the radio analyze the players and games to death. I mean who cares what a player had for breakfast or this coach made this decision or that and this player should have done this or that.
Thirdis why is it we get “attached” to certain teams and cheer for them? Usually it happens to be in your home town or near your hometown. So when you have nothing to with how the team is coached or managed, we usually end up defending the team and hate the other team. If “our” team wins what does that mean for me, that my home town is looked more favorably upon or that I am now somewhat better because of a game? Perhaps its this longing to be part of some community. I like to be somewhat informed of what is going on in the sports world ,but I am not sure why. Perhaps I don’t want to feel left out. I rarely watch sports unless it NHL playoffs and the Canucks are playing, but I do like to keep up with some of the major sporting events which is usually done on the internet. I know sports can take our mind off things like war and politics and can be entertaining, but somehow down deep it doesn’t mean a whole lot, that is unless you are making over a million dollars a years playing one of these sports:-)
