Coldplay in Vancouver January 26, 2006

Shelby surprised me just before Christmas saying she was going to buy her and I Coldplay tickets for Christmas. This was a nice surprise.
So last Thursday night we went to enjoy my Christmas present at GM Place.
First off I am not big on reviewing concerts. I enjoy concerts, but I want the ideal situation everytime. Great band, small club, awesome sound. Anything else is usually a compromise. So here we are in a big venue and it’s Coldplay.
I enjoyed the concert, Chris Martin has a lot of energy and does well to connect to the crowd. It sounds like the set list we had was similar to other shows they put on. Am I surprised, no. Chris also did some cool things like introduce Fiona Apple as the opening act, during “Talk” he had a fans cell phone and was singing into it(not sure if there was anyone on the line though), and during “In my place” he went into the crowd to sing to the far side of the stadium. Did he do that at other shows, I think so as well. One thing he said he hasn’t done before was call Canadians his favourite race. Thanks Chris, your pretty cool yourself.
Good show, fun night out.

I hear ya, Eric. I like small venues as well.

Never have seen Coldplay live … I think I’d like to do that at some point, but I really hate arena shows.
