Nice Little Weekend

This past Friday we had some friends over who are missionaries heading off to Azerbaijan, a remote country in Central Asia. They say they will be gone for up to 4 years! They recently had a baby in January, so travelling that great of a distance should prove interesting. The leave tomorrow. We were glad to have a last chance to see them before they leave.
On Saturday I fianally exercised my freedom to go the the States. Shelby and I went to La Conner to see the Skagit Valley Tulip Festival. She likes tulips and I like taking pictures so it seemed like a nice combination. The weather was almost perfect. It was sunny but there was a cold breeze blowing which made it a little chilly out in the tulip fields. Shelby also was able to visit some outlet malls which made her happy as well. In the evening my brother and girlfriend came over to visit. They live in Victoria and we don’t see them that often, so it was nice to visit again.
On Sunday I along with my brothers, father, brother-in-law and my brother’s girlfriend representing the females ran the 10k Sun Run. This year more than 50,000 people registered to run, which is quite impressive. It was another stellar day to do a run around downtown Vancouver, almost too hot in fact, but I won’t complain about that.:-)
My goal was to complete in under 50 minutes and I came in at a time of 48:52, so I am happy with that.
After the run we have our annual brunch at Newlands. Guilt-free eating after our morning of exercise. Later in the afternoon we we able to clean up around the house, now that our little sunroom addition is finally finished.
Once the the kids were in bed were were able to relax in the new sunroom and reflect on our nice little weekend.
