Elastic Blue starts it’s journey.
If I had a geekery section, I think this post would qualify. One of my favorite hobbies these days is geocaching which I have mentioned before. Basically it is hi-tech treasure hunting using a GPS receiver to find containers, called caches, usually in the woods. I enjoy exploring new areas that I have never been to before, which is mostly why I enjoy the hobby. One of the features of geocaching are travel bugs. Travel bugs are usually little figurines which have a dog tag attached witrh a number so you can track the whereabouts of these travel bugs. Basically the idea is to pick the travel bugs from one cache and place it in another. The distance travelled between caches can vary greatly, from a few km’s to 10,000km.
I received a travel bug dog tag from my wife’s brother a long time a go. I didn’t really have anything to attach and send out, so it just sat there. Meanwhile at work, each day I receive the mail in a blue rubber band. About a year ago I started to collect the rubber bands and started making a rubber ball and it kept growing and growing. One day I thought this ball would be something fun to send out on a journey and it becanme a travel bug, and Elastic Blue was born!
The other day I placed it in a cache that I found nearby and thus it’s journey has begun, to where he goes, I’ll have to wait and see.
As of today it is still sitting in the same cache, but you can track it’s journey here
God speed Elastic Blue!;-)
