Today I have worked in my studio. In silence. No TV, no DVD, no music (which is a big change)…nothing except the occasional email alert. Just time alone with my thoughts and God. I realize that my life has been full of noise…especially the last few years at work. Lots of noise.
But for some reason today I don’t want to break the silence. I’m catching up on some drawings, got an unprecedented amount of character sketches done, went over a freelance project I’m doing, and finished up a commission.
Today has been a good day for my mental well-being.
I highly recommend silence.
when I was hiking this past week… we camped behind this waterfall in a cavern cut into the hill… the waterfall was so great.. it provided white noise which is great when bed time comes.. and very soothing even when you are just sitting around the campfire.. but it was amazing how much more I appreciated the quiet… once I away from the waterfall… its like.. it was nice.. but you need a break.. anyway.. I feel ya on the silence thing…

Brian, Geof’s comment is referring to a song by this group, Caedmon’s Call. Have you heard of them? The song is called “Center Aisle.”

Who’s this Caedmon you speak of?
Someone should introduce me to him.
