In an effort to foster a sense of peace and good will towards men, the good folks at my local post office are despensing Christmas cheer with reckless abandon.
We live in a miniscule little town on the outskirts of Greensboro that only earns its townhood by the fact that there is a small post office. I have yet to see a town hall, or a fire station, or anything else for that matter…so I’m pretty sure the town has the US Postal Service to thank for its existence. My point is..it’s small. So there’s not a multitude of people coming and going. You’d think there’d be a small town feel to the post office…well maybe there is, since this is the only small town I’ve ever lived in…but if it is a small town feel, then small towns feel like crap.
Saturday I had to go mail off a peice of artwork that I sold on Ebay, and I was pretty sure the office closed at 12. Unfortunately, I was wrong and they had to slave away until 11:30. I pulled into the parking lot around 11:28…got to the door of the office and when my face is a foot or two away from the glass…they shut the blinds in my face.
Now, if it were New York…where there’s a point where they just have to stop helping people in line or they’d never close, I’d be pretty understanding. But…it was just me. I’m the only one at this little post office…and they close up in my face. Not a “sorry sir, we’re closed.” nor a “screw you, sir, you’re late.”
Either would have been fine with me.
I guess it goes back to one of my pet peeves…I hate being ignored.
That sucks. [Insert rant about Federal employees here.]

Gee, I’m glad I’m only a temp and not an actual USPS employee.

boo to the post office!
they’ve been slow delivering a check i mailed as well…we should boycott the usps and use fedex instead! (unless they are a lot more expensive, of course…)

Yeah, my local post office….really annoying. They locked my mailbox due to non-payment of rent. Except I had paid my box rent. But, I was never nearby during open hours to go show them my canceled check to prove that I paid. Finally, I went yesterday, after 2 weeks of my mailbox being unfairly locked. To be fair, they were very nice and apologetic. But there is one employee there who is SO rude, I just want to kick him in the neck…and if he is the only one working, I will just walk out instead of dealing with him.

That’s why we totally need to be able to “beam” stuff places, like in Star Trek.
That’d be way more than wicked cool.

I agree. Every time I have shipped something via USPS, it somehow arrives late, gets damaged, or something goes wrong with it. I think the USPS is run by Satan himself to attempt to make us sin out of anger…

i was injured while working for the usps and have had 2 surgeries since and i am still hurting. i was hurt using equipment the usps knew was faulty and dangerous. now i have been told not to report to work and have been treated with no respect and like a wild animal. i would LOVE to some how get the message out on how the usps treats its employees and other problems customers have with them. but i am one person,i do not even know if any body reads this post, but i am willing to try and get the word out. we should all BOYCOTT the usps and tell our family and friends and tell them to tell their family and friends etc. etc. send e-cards, use fed ex , ups and other carriers for packages, use automatic bill pay for bills or set up an online bill pay with your bank.
money or compensation for my injury would be fine but the only thing that would ease my everyday pain would be to see the usps go under, that would be AWESOME, but in all likelyhood would never happen.
i love to vent to get all this off my chest,
thanks!!!!!!
