I tried to record some guitar stuff for the first time in…a long time. As can be expected, I got frustrated. So now, I’m going to go and plant some tomatoes. Of course, as soon as I finish typing this, I may decide not to. I’m very spontaineous that way.

I just finished a discussion with my senors on whether or not morality should be legistlated.
Or I would have, except half of them didn’t know what “morality” was. Or what “legislate” meant. After explain and discussing, 1/3 still didn’t know…and then got mad and said “this is stupid, none of it matters.”
I am [...]

Teaching Social Studies in the public school system opens the doors for discussions on a wide range of topics. For example, today we covered the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and then plunged headlong into the Da Vinci code. The latter wasn’t my idea, mind you, but it was bound to come up.
Several students [...]

Dear Blog,
Day 2 and no sign of the harbinger of death in the cab of my truck. Sarah says when she got to wilmington, a spider matching Harold’s description crawled on the outside of her windshield. This spider may be at the beach.
This hardly seems fair.
Sincerely,
Brian.

Dear Blog,
I borrowed my brothers truck for a few days. While driving home last night, I noticed there’s a decent-sized spider living in there. I tried to kill him, but missed. I hate spiders. He’s still in there. Maybe if I name him I’ll be less wigged out. His [...]

I figured out this week that my afternoon bus duty has me stationed with the Crips. The Bloods are about 150 feet away, and they out number the Crips 3 to 1.
Also, our superindendent got a $30,000 raise (yes, that’s more than first year teachers make) and took away extra money from [...]

As anyone who participates in any sort of creative arts can tell you, there is, to a certain degree, a need for what we do to be seen by other people. Now, that’s not true of every little doodle or jingle that someone may produce. There are things that give instrinsic satisfaction…and no doubt [...]

This morning on the way to work I decided to listen to a local talk radio station. I’m not usually one given to talk radio, but the usual five song rotation on the other stations was getting old, and there’s only so many times I can be yelled at by an announcer that a local [...]

Sometimes I get in a funk and don’t want to be around people. I rang in this Easter in just such a mood. I’m not sure exactly what precipitated this round. It may have been the caffeine I had in the morning at church, and the by product of my post-coffee crash [...]

I’ve been selling like mad on Ebay lately. I had planned on drawing the next issue this week, but instead have been doing things for Ebay…because Ebay drops Hamiltons like Aaron Burr.
I had to take my dog to the vet. He’d been having problems jumping up on the couch the last [...]

Wow, has it been a week since my last post? Interesting…I thought I just put something on here.
I’m on spring break this week. Today I put up three Ebay auctions to help fund my buy-Brian-a-larger-scanner fund. So far I have a long way to go.
I also haven’t been able to shake [...]

I remember the small bathroom off of the main room where my first grade class met. It was basically a closet with just enough room for a toilet, with a skylight built-in to the ceiling. I can remember looking up…way up…at the skylight, and the room seemed a hundred feet tall. I’m [...]
