rest
Thursday, January 25th, 2007In an effort to preserve my mental health, I’m going to take maybe a week off from blogging.
There is no such thing on earth as an uninteresting subject; the only thing that can exist is an uninterested person. - G.K. Chesterton
In an effort to preserve my mental health, I’m going to take maybe a week off from blogging.
…my brain to slow down.
Today some guy asked me “are you recently married?”
Um. No.
“You keep a clean wedding ring.”
Um…what does he think happens if someone doesn’t clean their wedding ring. Did he expect it to be covered in mud? Or oil? Or radiation?
Freako.
Seeing a need, and the moral obligation to act upon it (and the effect of a guilty conscience when we don’t) is not the same as God giving us divine directives like he did with prophets. Our directive is to do what is right (a general directive to all found in scripture), but typically [...]
It’s been very hard to keep up my daily posts this week. Part of the reason is I’m getting the book ready to send out to the distributor, I’ve been working a lot of hours, I have commissions and freelance work to do, as well as trying to promote my book through various internet [...]
I have no problem with bad reviews of my work. Provided that those reviewers know what they’re reviewing. (Heck, I’ve had someone come up to me at a con and tell me they hate my book…because they didn’t like the premise. That didn’t’ bother me in the least, because I assumed they understood [...]
I’ve missed a few days posting this week…I’ve been a little preoccupied.. Hopefully things will settle down now.
Yesterday I was home maybe 40 minutes. And that 40 minutes was spent getting the website up and running again. I finally got access back and went in to delete the directory someone had created. And yep, it was for the Royal Bank of Canada. I knew Canada was to blame.
This morning I recieved an odd email. “Nice Fishing site ;)” it said. Then had a long url. The kind you get in spam mail where they’re trying to fool you into going to a page and putting in your username and password. I did notice that the URL began with [...]
So far I haven’t gotten done quite as much as I wanted today. Maybe the fact that I’m not sure what I wanted to get done is the problem.
I spent the majority of today trying not to say to people what I most wanted to say.
“I told you I had a man-crush on you since I saw you draw that unicorn.”
I’ve been seeing more and more signs popping up at local businesses that read: “we will gladly wait for you to finish your phone call before taking your order.” How long until my store can put one of those up?
Adam wrote a post on the “who designed the designer” argument that folks like Richard Dawkins trot out when confronted with any claim that the universe must have had a creator. (Obviously the argument is, “You say the universe had to have a creator…then who created the creator?” It’s meant to supposedly show [...]
Okay, I do love to read. The problem is I haven’t been as disciplined in it as I have in the past. So I figured a reading list should help give me a goal to work towards. And so I present, Brian’s modest reading list for 2007 AD.

This is pretty cool. They’ve taken the satellite google maps, and combined them with the Bible to give you a visual overview of the locations.

Since a few people requested more…I’ll oblige. My latest form of shameless self-promotion. Hey, I have bills to pay and cons to go to….and a mortgage.
What can I say about 2006?
It was such a bizarre year in the life of Brian. Employment, unemployment, employment. People are giving me money to draw things. That’s pretty cool. I taught a bunch of kids about World History and baby sat others while their teachers were away. My [...]
