On the probability of miracles

Last week I watched a debate between William Lane Craig and Bart Ehrman (Author of Misquoting Jesus) on the historical reliability of the resurrection of Jesus.
Ehrman claims that historians only deal with what can “probably” happen (This seems to be part of how he defines the discipline.) And since miracles are statistically “improbable”, that [...]

A rusty paragraph for Halloween.

We walked outside to find that what through the window had looked like a perfect fall morning was, in fact, too warm to fulfill our expectations . Gray, colorful, and drizzling, a cooler temperature would have fit Halloween perfectly. As if to offer some compensation, nature had densely populated our bushes with small [...]

I want to write.
It’s been a while. I’ve been drawing. I’ve been posting status updates. I haven’t done much with paragraphs.
I’m withering away. Now I go to write and what comes out?
Sentences on writing.

Vacation time!

My trip to San Diego is in two weeks. I kept thinking it was further off. I suppose it’s time to start getting all my stuff ready.
This year I won’t have a table. I’ll be walking around doing the networking thing. You might see me. I’ll be the white guy in his early 30s walking [...]

Then again…

Outside my window I can see the University of Tennessee nestled snugly in the hills between here and the river. Cozy narrow streets wind their way through tree and brick while the church bells ring in the distance. They’ve been ringing for minutes. At first I thought they were chiming [...]

the last 2 weeks

Where have I been?
I think this is the longest hiatus I’ve taken from here since I began the blog one dreary day in the middle of a lifeless warehouse. But let’s not dwell on the bad times.
This Saturday is the half marathon. When I see if the 4 months of training [...]

Things that happened yesterday

I was sitting at the coffeeshop downtown studying when I notice a group of 20-something guys coming up the street. As fate would have it, they all sat down next to me, and here’s what I learned about them:
1) They were a band
2) They were not local
3) They were successful enough to play gigs [...]

Did you know?

No running for almost a week. The weather has really been an obsticle in my training, although I think I’m still on track for the half-marathon in 4 weeks. Or is it 5?
I’m too lazy to look at the calendar that I can access at the bottom toolbar of my screen.

running and dogs

The sun has been engulfed by dreary, cool gray clouds today. Yesterday I ran 6 miles in what the clearly, always-correct meteorologists tell me is the last day of sun for a week.
Sunday I broke into the double digits with my run, finishing up 10.14 miles in an hour and 46 minutes. [...]
