The Joys of Parenthood

It always seems with kids that they never behave when you need them too. I remember those days when I was a teenager babysitting, and you would have no problems with the kids until two minutes before the parents arrived during which they would destroy the house, spill food everywhere, and sit in the middle of the floor wailing while their parents came in.

And now I have kids of my own. Today was Seámus’ doctor’s appointment. Éva has been doing a lot better in the behavior department. She’s learning to listen the first time, and not beat up on her brother… too bad. But of course, just when I need her to behave, it all falls apart! We were at the doctor’s office, and I had my hands full of an unhappy Seámus, when Éva decides to throw a terrible two temper tantrum. Full out, flat on the floor, arms waving, legs kicking. :sigh: And that’s just when the doctor walks in. Thankfully, he has kids of his own so he understands, but still, it was a little embarrasing! And then she found my wallet while I was talking with the doctor, and proceeded to take all my stuff out of it. When I realized what she was up to, she refused to listen and give it to me, so I had to physically take it from her - to which she did not react kindly. And so on and so on, etc. I was so glad when we finally got home. What a morning!

All that to say, kids are unpredictable! And even the best behaved will break lose occasionally.
