We’re looking at doing our kitchen ikea style.

Here’s the basic layout. It’s a little bit off (the door looks squishy in this drawing), but you get the general idea.

The doors of the cabinets are a blue-gray finish (you can see the actual color in the picture below)… the countertops are butcher block. The microwave will go in the cabinet on the left. Notice how there aren’t many wall cabinets. Instead of closed cabinets, I’d like to do something like the picture below — stainless steel shelves.

We have a pantry… so most of the stuff that we have in our upper cupboards now would go in the pantry, and plates, bowls, and cups can go on the metal shelves. I’d like to have the metal shelves above the counter to the right of the sink. To the left of the sink, next to the oven, I want to put up wooden strips to hang pots off of (like the one in your C’ville house, Mom & Dad). Under the metal shelves, I really like this metal rod hanging system:

The walls of the kitchen, I plan on tiling with large white tiles & white grout. So the basic color scheme of the kitchen will be white, blue-gray, and steel. The floors and counters will be wood… which will tie it into the rest of the house.
