Lego Maniac

Yesterday I brought my Harry Potter Lego Hogwarts Castle to work. It’s sitting on the very top shelf of my bookcase. I think the Lego people were very clever to realize that Harry Potter fans are likely to be Lego fans.

Legos are my favorite toys. Remember the Lego commercials they used to have, and the Legomaniac song? I loved that song. I still get Legos every year for Christmas. This year, Mike gave me a companion piece to the Hogwarts Castle that I still haven’t put together yet. We didn’t really have room for it. But now I can put it with the rest of the castle.

My favorite Legos were the pirate ones that came out in the late 80’s/early 90’s. I had many hours of fun with them. They are all still at my parents’ house, along with the Lego town I created. Joseph had some other bits of the town, and he had a lot of space Legos. Neither of us were very interested in the Knight ones - the ones with the castles and the horses and guards. We asked for smaller sets, so Mom & Dad would actually buy them. Looking now, I see that Legos are expensive!

I think I would really like to get Main Street to go with my town. I don’t need it, of course. I just love all the little Lego pieces and how cute they are.

I have a secret dream of going to LegoLand someday. I remember reading about it as a kid and thinking that it sounded like the best place in the world.

Who else had Legos? Which sets were your favorites?

I love legos! I once built a fast- food restaurant and it even had outdoor seating! Legos are wonderful!

I never bought any of the pre-fab kits.

I just had a huge pile of blocks with which I built many things.

I merged my model train set and my Lego collection when I was in third grade. That work of art stayed around for three years or so.

I never had the themed sets…I had a bunch of legos..but they were just legos…i had to use my imagination to come up with anything.

They were one of my favorite toys. until Transformers came out. but then I think I probably used them as forts for them.

We had some of both - the sets and just loose blocks. The house in my town is one that I designed, and Joseph loved to design stuff, but I really liked the sets, too.

Yay, Shelby! Good to see you! :)

I acutcally had pink and purple girly Legos when I was little. I always made my brother play town… ie, he took apart his shape ships to make houses and stores. Yes, I am the older sister.

Our two girls had a huge lego collection (which now is in reserve for our grandkids’ visits). My favorite thing to do with them when they were little was to get on the floor and build with them. What great fuel for the imagination…legos could be anything.

I just had the regular blocks growing up-what fun! Somebody gave my son Nathan some mega blocks for his birthday. I sit and play with them for hours as Nathan is running around. He stops by to demolish my creations once in a while. :-)

Karen, I know what you are saying - I gave my three-year-old nephew some Duplo blocks for Christmas, and I sat there and played with them while he did something else.

Alisa, WHERE did you get pink and purple legos? That’s awesome.

I dont know! My grandma bought them for me (she always finds cool stuff… she sent me Friends DVD in the mail yesterday actucally) more than likely at Target. I bet you can find them on Ebay. They came with flowers and everything.
