Becoming Jane . . . or at least a Hollywoodized version of her.

The trailer for Becoming Jane is up. It looks wildly inaccurate (based on what little I have read of Jane Austen’s letters) and I found the Little Women music distracting (that’s what that is, right? I think so), but there’s no point in me saying that I won’t go see it. We all know that I will. It is, after all, a movie based on Jane Austen herself, no matter how loosely. And I’ll probably enjoy it for what it is, much as I did for the recent Pride and Prejudice. It has Maggie Smith! And Julie Walters! I’m shameless, I know.

It’s supposed to come out August 3 . . . though it may take longer to get to my area. Anybody in?

Would that fall somewhere in our tentative summer girls weekend?

Actually, it would be exactly that weekend. If it came out in this area. But I didn’t want to, you know, be pushy or anything. hehe.

I think the music is from Sense and Sensibility.

That music is similar. Now I will have to check when I get home. But I think the one I’m thinking of is the main theme of Little Women. I feel like it gets used in trailers a lot - there was something else in the past year that had the same music.

This is going to drive me crazy all day. hehe.

You know what? I think that it’s both. The part I was thinking about, around the middle of the trailer, sounds like the Little Women theme to me, still. But the later parts do sound like Sense and Sensibility.

(How much time have I wasted on this? Do not ask.)

You’re right! It’s Little Women first and then bursts into S&S at the end. And the Little Women music has been used in so many movie trailers. It’s like the Wilhelm Scream of movie soundtracks!

Wilhelm Scream. Nice choice of reference. hehe.

definately from little women, the song is acutally called “little women” … quite offputting i thought….
