The Waiting Game
Well, while we wait (and wait) for Hannah’s baby to come, here is a list of some of the things we are doing to occupy our time in Maine:
- watching Moose (OK, we only saw one in the yard)
- Painting Éva’s toes “pretty” (as she calls them) with nailpolish (it took Hannah almost a whole day to discover that we had done it)
- Being exposed to Maine PBS
- Watching “The Black Adder” videos
- Eating way too many sweets
- Studying Greek
- Picking blueberries
- Visiting Philip’s grandfather next door and hearing old stories
- Taking Éva out in the boat to the island camp
- Having Grampy make moose steaks for Éva at camp for breakfast the other day (this is a fact, really!)
- Cooking, doing dishes, etc (life DOES go on)
In the midst of all of this, I was tracked down by a pastor in NJ who passed on the sad news that my aunt had passed away. Aunt Mary (who never married and whose middle name I bear) taught me the finer things in life like how to curtsy and how to do the “hukelau” (a hula she learned in Hawaii). Mark and I had just been commenting that our new-to-us 1939-era apartment reminded us of Aunt Mary’s apartment building. She lived in the same place as long as I knew her.
I’ve been told I wax too poetic on this blog… but I cannot resist. So, here’s to life… the memories of a life that has come to an end, and the hope for the life that is about to enter this world. To everything there IS a season.

Wax on. Really.
Grieve in your own way as needed. Know that y’all are loved by lots of folks who’ll listen if you need to talk, or sit if you don’t.

I’ve been following your blog (and your husbands) for a few weeks now. The journey you are on is very exciting. I admire you both. Enjoy your time waiting for the baby to arrive!

I laughed so hard at you list! Glad you are indeed finding some diversion during this hard time of waiting.
I wonder if Blackadder is on here at home. After seeing it up there I could get seriously hooked.
