Too Much to Say
It seems like way too much life has been packed into the last few weeks. So much has happened that I keep thinking I can’t possibly summarize it … and, hence, the reason that nothing at all has been written here. So, I will make a stab at at least starting to list some of the recent event highlights.
I was able to register early and we did go to NJ to work on my aunt’s apartment. Mark was a real trooper staying with me for 3 days straight cleaning the most dreadful apartment mess (which he also described in his blog very well). Anyway, I am glad that we are able to serve my family in this way and I am thankful that we have had the strength and courage to do this task. We’ll still have a few more trips to NJ to finish up. I am so very thankful that we are only 2 hours away, instead of the 5 or 6 hours it would have been from VA.
Mark also eloquently summarized and reflected on our opening convocation at WTS. You should read his blog for those thoughts.
We are taking Hebrew, Greek, Systematic Theology, Apologetics, New Testament Intro (not a survey course, but rather a look at the background and historical setting of the writing, etc.) and Dynamics of Change (a counseling course). Of course, I really love the languages, but I think that Apologetics or NT will be my other favorite course this semester. We have thousands of pages of reading between all the courses and we are enjoying the opportunity to read, think and study.
We had a few unforeseen details regarding the costs of being here. My scholarship actually has a 12 credit per semester limit, so anything above that we have to pay for. This semester we are trying to minimize that by having me continue to study Greek through independent study. The plan is for me to take the full placement exam in February in order to fulfill the language requirement. We also had some other unexpected financial expenses (mostly related to the new health insurance that students are required to have), but we are trusting that God’s provision to us this semester will continue to carry us through in the future. It is amazing to see the hand of the Lord and the generous prayers and support of friends and family.
(Oh, and Happy Birthday to Hannah…. September 15)
