Congratulations, Sis!
Congratulations to my sister who just finished her first marathon!

These pictures are in the last leg of the race, which she finished in 4:27:24. Out of a field of 4,221 she crossed the line as the 2115th runner, and the 646th woman. Amazing!!
So what possesses someone to run a marathon? Usually every runner has different (and very personal) reason. Here’s what my sister emailed to us the day before she ran:
This marathon is supporting Donate Life, which is an organ and tissue donation education organization. A dear friend of mine has renal failure and is in need of a kidney transplant, so i am running in her honor. If you think of it tomorrow, i could use a short prayer that i’ll finish - but what i’d really like is if you would pray for my friend. She is considered a high risk patient (lots of medical problems) and needs to be stronger and healthier before the doctors will do a transplant. She is a wonderful woman, and we are all trusting God for His perfect plans for her.
I think she is a pretty terrific sister (and I have two others!).

Congratulations, Barbara! I can’t even run to the free donuts after Wednesday chapel!
