Wait…before you push the “Forward This” button

I’ve received several forwarded emails this week that either promise a “too good to be true” opportunity or reveal some horrendous scam that must be countered. These emails must be forwarded to either garner the benefit or warn friends and family of impending calamity.

Take a deep breath.

Before you empty your address book into the “Forward to” field of an email, check out the veracity of the content you intend to pass on. It’s simple. Go to:

www.snopes.com

You can do a simple search (or just browse by category) to find out the real truth about internet and email hoaxes and scams. Your friends will appreciate this! And so will your internet providers who have to shuffle all the unnecessary email around.

Don’t get me wrong… I like to get email from friends (really), but just tell me about how your day is going, give me suggestions for my paper that I’m trying to finish, or recommend a place for great coffee.

End of Public Service Announcement.

    Hi, Sis!

You are right, a cup of Bojo’s (isn’t that what Bodo’s calls their coffee?) would be a pretty good thing right now! Hmmm, and chicken salad on an everything bagel. I may just have to come and take you up on your offer.

Looking forward to seeing you soon.
