Some idiot called Arnett with a Pulitzer prize

If there’s anything I would not be proud of, it’s being counted a “warrior” by the Iraqi government.

One more test out the way. Only 5 more this year, I think.

Yesterday’s sermon was interesting – it really hit me in a couple soft spots regarding how I feel about my grades, about wanting to be “proven” to be good, to “prove” that I’m smart. Very humbling.

What I Saw At The Walkout by a Harvard senior

It’s a great piece on why I cannot bring myself to support the anti-war protesters. They have yet to come up with truly good arguments as to why Bush’s justifications are wrong. The best I’ve heard so far is from a classmate who thinks it’s not worth the lives to remove Saddam, because he’s not the threat Bush claims he is, and that’s at least a true difference in opinion in assessing the threat that Saddam poses. I can appreciate that because he’s well-read and versed in Arab politics, being an Arab Muslim himself. But the things some of these protestors are saying…. I’m sorry, they’re just not making any sense, and they have yet to show Bush to be truly wrong, instead of just a difference in opinion as to how “bad” Saddam is and whether or not he’s “bad enough” to warrant military action (so long as one believes using military action can be justified in removing a psychopathic dictator).

I’m not saying that military action is unequivocally justified or not in a situation like this. I’m still not sure, but if there were a time I would say waging war is morally acceptable, it’s times like this.

Kathleen just used a straw to drink out of the de-ionized water tap. As in she turned on the water, and lacking a cup, used a straw to drink out of the stream of water.

I had a bit part in an independent film last night – japanese langauge, directed by a hispanic lady. I played an incompetent chopstick user. It was hard to overcome my instinct to use them properly.

Regarding Rice Baseball’s rankings, Rice is actually #1 in all 4 national polls this week.

This past weekend was a lot of fun – I got to show Kathleen around Rice, and we both got to go to Janelle and Victor’s wedding banquet they had down in Houston. It was really cool to hear a little bit about their lives, about their wedding. I’m looking forward to the house-warming party they’ll have.

I finally heard from the doctor for my summer preceptorship. I’m in :)

Y’know what really makes me pissed? I’m not really pro-war, or really anti-war, but I am REALLY pissed when people compare Bush to Hitler, or Bush to Saddam, or say Bush is the evil because of what he’s doing now. Granted, the CIA has some shady tactics, but we do not systematically torture or kill people like the Nazis did, or Saddam does. There is simply NO comparison.

What an insult to those who went through the Holocaust and survived it, comparing that to what’s going on now. I mean, even if you REALLY think the war is REALLY wrong, you cannot say what we are doing is even remotely like the Holocaust. GRRRRRR.

On a lighter, happier note, I watched a Rice baseball game this weekend, and we won :) It was a little bit closer than I’d have liked, but it was exciting. The team’s doing pretty darn well this year, again :) Ranked #1 in the nation this week by 2 polls, I think.

My sister’s wisdom teeth holes aren’t infected. That’s a good thing.

I’m off to the other side of the world! :) I get to see old friends, make new ones, and most of all, get away from school! No more Neuro, no more Cell. In fact, I don’t have ANY studying to do at all! :)
