Communism lives

Published by philber under current events

Hugo Chavez has officially declared himself a communist. While I have my own beefs with the rampant consumerism of modern capitalism and how it has infiltrated the Church, I am actually surprised Chavez came out and said he was a communist. We all knew he was a socialist, with all of his nationalizing of resources (oil) in Venezuela, but communist? Private property being evil and all that.

Although what he’s asking his people to do is interesting – giving their stuff away.

Vaccines in court

Published by philber under current events, medicine

CNN reports that the never-dying controversy of thimerosal and autism is now a court case. I sure hope the court finds in favor of the defendants, if only because the scientific data is overwhelming in showing absolutely no association or link between autism and thimerosal. The only link is temporal, and that’s only because the MMR is given in the same time frame as when kids are starting to develop symptoms of autism that are noticeable enough to make the diagnosis.
