Meeting new babies

Friday, September 22nd, 2006

Emma’s umbililcal cord came off yesterday while Mike was changing her diaper. Although it’s too early to tell, we think that she is going to have an inny. Emma’s Aunty Leah (my sister) is coming over after school to visit her brand new neice. Leah is beside herself with excitement. I’m excited just to see my sister again because i havent seen her for a while.
Her Uncle Sam (yup, she has an Uncle Sam) will not get to meet her until the end of October. We sent him some great pictures of her though. I know that he will enjoy them.
It is so much fun to see people’s reaction to a newborn; especially as you walk down the street. I think my favorite has been the woman who ran into a parked car because she was trying to get a look at Emma. Rhea and I were on our way down to our landlords (who by the way absolutely loved her) and all of a sudden this lady ran into a rear view mirror!
I am very sad that my 2 youngest sisters do not get to meet Emma until they are older. I have no way to get them over here without Brenda and Jim. I honestly wish that they did not know about her. They are not even supposed to, except one of my teachers at Normandale spilled the beans to my parents. You see, he sends his kids to Trinity High School too and it kind of slipped out of his damn mouth to my parents. Now I have to face the dilemma of telling my siblings they cant see her. I really dont want to turn them against their parents at such a young age, although its not my fault they cant see her. Thankfully, Leah has agreed to help me tell them they cant see her for now.

So, today’s my due date

8 days ago Emma was born, so that makes her a little over a week old! I continue to recover more and more each day. Edrie and i went and got her cute little clothes yesterday. They are a bit big right now, but she will grow into them pretty quickly.
it is great having Emma around. She requires a lot of attention, but it is so worth it. she is such a happy baby. she has even learned how to smile already! hopefully we will be able to catch a picture of it soon. she normally sleeps for 2 hours at a time and then eats. she is eating so well and getting plenty of food.

Emma Rhea Kioski

Early Monday morning Emma was born. She weighed 6 lbs. and 1 oz. and is 19 and 1/2 in. long. Labor and delivery went really well. Emma is extremely healthy and so am I!
Mike and I are pretty tired; but happy and relieved that we finally got to meet our little baby girl. She is the easiest baby to take care of. She is mostly just interested in sleeping; which has been somewhat of a problem when it comes to feeding. BUt with some prodding she is willing to eat. Edrie has come to spend the week with us and has been a great help already. She got some much needed cleaning done and made some dinner for us. Thank you Edrie (and Greg and Steve for giving her up for now)!
