Merry Christmas

Tuesday, December 26th, 2006

Well, it was a great Christmas. Mike and Emma are both still sleeping after a long 3 days of Christmas and presents. Mike and I got a bunch of really nice stuff for our kitchen from Greg and Edrie; and since Mike and I love to cook this is awesome. We got FF XII from Erik and Rhea, which we have already made a dent in. And I got some beautiful emerald earings from Mike (along with the Happy Feet game). I gave him a wireless Guitar Hero controller. My brother (in-law) steve got me a gift card to target and Brain Age. Emma was not left out in the gift giving, but she wasnt able to open any herself. That will be next year. She got a happy penguin named Kyle from her mom and dad and an awesome play gymn from Grandma and Grandpa. She also got some cds from her godparents.

So, to anyone who gave us presents who is reading this, here is one big thank you! all at once.

Too much chocolate

Sunday, December 24th, 2006

I have eaten way too much Christmas candy. It is making me feel ill. It doesnt help that we have an entire bag of Dove Dark chocolate and Milky Way chocolate covered caramels just waiting for me to eat them!

What a sweet husband

Monday, December 18th, 2006

Mike is so good at helping me out around the house. Since Emma demands a lot of my attention it is hard for me to find time to do other chores. I do the best I can, but there are some things that I just cannot do on my own. Every day I need my breast pump and a bottle washed for Emma, Mike does this for me every single day. When I wake up I need the pump right away and it is always there for me because of my wonderful husband. We have had our rough times, but Mike normally makes sure that there are clean dishes for me to use during the day so that during the few moments I have to eat I won’t have to take time to clean dishes. Mike and I have done so much over the past year. We have moved twice! And most of the move fell on Mike because I was either pregnant or recovering from child birth. He has worked so hard over the past year and I am so proud of him. He is so unselfish and is willing to give his life to those that he loves. I am so blessed to have such a sweet, caring husband. It means so much to me to get up after he has left for work and know that he took the time to think about Emma and my comfort. This is not to say that I do nothing for Mike every day. I have taken it upon myself to prepare Mike’s lunch every single night so that he will not go hungry while he is at work. I love my husband and am so happy that I get to spend each day with him!

New Psychiatrist

Friday, December 15th, 2006

I was flipping through channels this morning while I was working on my last essay of the semester, when I stumbled across a new TV psychiatrist named Dr. Keith. I’m not one to watch stuff like this, but I decided to see what his counceling style was like. From what I saw he goes stictly by the book and is also very Freudian in his approach. He was convinced that people’s problems came from experiences from their past. Very few of Freud’s ideas are actually accepted by the psychology world, but he seems to have accepted it. Another thing that really bothers me about him is the fact that he lets the patients tell him what their problem is, instead of diagnosing it for them. I think that this causes him to miss a lot of what is happening with his patients. My diagnosis: Dr. Keith is not a good councelor. He probably would have made a better psychologist than psychiatrist.

3 months old!

Monday, December 11th, 2006

Can you believe that is has already been 3 months since Emma was born? It went by so fast! She gets cuter by the day. She has been talking (baby talk) much more recently. She has also been gargling, it’s the cutest thing. Emma also loves to smile. I think that is the best thing about her getting older. It is wonderful to see her smile at you once you go and pick her up in the morning. She is always so happy to see me (and daddy!). She sleepsabout 7-9 hours per night so I am getting plenty of sleep. When she wakes up it is only for a couple of minutes to get something to eat and get her diaper changed. Then she goes right back to sleep. She is such an easy baby. I love it. If only all babies were this easy!

Thank you Weird Al

Wednesday, December 6th, 2006

Emma has taken a definite liking to Weird Al, especially his song “White and Nerdy.” She always pays special attention whenever she hears the song and makes happy cooing noises. Eventually it puts her to sleep. It is very soothing for her. It’s great that she already likes Weird Al!

Dont throw food away

Saturday, December 2nd, 2006

It always amazes me how much food restaurants throw away each day. I used to work in a restaurant and we threw away so much food EVERY SINGLE DAY. One day our managers told us that we were no longer allowed to take home the extra food with us. I remember one woman was actually feeding her family with this left over food and she would cry while she dumped perfectly good food down the garbage disposal. All of us complained so much that we were eventually given the right back to take home food. I felt so bad for this woman while they did this though.

Some kids in my highschool class (not me of course) would go dumpster diving behind SA and Cub. You would be surprised to know that they actually got edible food out of there. It had just reached its expiration date.

Some people say that there is not enough food in the world to feed the population. I just cant see how this is true when restaurants, grocery stores, and gas stations are THROWING AWAY perfectly good food. The only reason we “dont” have enough food is because we are throwing too much of it away. In the restaurant that I worked at we could have just made less food to serve, but they never thought to do that. If you do make too much food, please find someone ot give it to before you just throw it away.
