10 Months!

Friday, July 13th, 2007

Emma hit the 10 month mark yesterday. Only 2 more months until her first birthday! It’s time to start planning her birthday party. She is more lively than ever. She is a very social baby and loves to get people’s attention. She waves at everyone when we go out and yells at people from out our window. She is very excited to meet new people…as long as she is in mommy’s arms or someone she knows well. It’s very exciting to see her personality develop. She is a very outgoing person who loves to go out and about. Emma is discovering new foods every day. Her favorite foods are soup, hot dogs, yogurt, Graduates Crunchies, Cheerios, noodles, and peas. She is a bit of a picky eater, but after some patience and a few tries we find something for her to eat each meal.
Emma can almost walk now. She can stand up all by herself and has attempted a couple of steps. She’s not quite there, but will be soon. She is so proud of herself when she can keep her balance. She waves her arms to keep her balance and it is kind of funny to watch. We are preparing for her to start walking by putting door knob gaurds on the doors to keep her from getting outside. She is developing swiftly and we want to be one step ahead of her. She is still trying to talk. We can make out some words, but it is still mostly babble.
And, of course she loves to get into everything that she is not supposed to. Her favorite electronic is my laptop. This, naturally, is not a toy. This is where having a nursery is a wonderful thing. Our old apartments were so small we did not have a nursery. Now we have a room that we can let her crawl around in that is very safe. She is also getting to the age where she is interested in other children. She knows that they are like her in some way and is very happy to see them. There is a little girl that is often outside of the Galarneau house that Emma loves to say hi to. She also met a couple of nice girls while I was getting my wedding dress fitted. It will be nice to see her get some little friends someday.

This weekend is going to be a busy one because I start my new job. I’m very excited to work for Boots (and a little nervous). I have to give perfect strangers make overs and that is something I have never done before. Although I’m nervous, I’m looking forward to learning and trying out something new. I enjoy a good challenge. This is a great opportunity for us and I am willing to try it out because of this.

Just one more Uncle

Sunday, June 24th, 2007

We were at the Nelson’s house tonight. I asked Rhea to ask Erik’s brother Kirk if he wanted to be Emma’s uncle too (just like Erik is). He said yes and now Emma has yet another uncle! I may have lost my family, but our family is still large. Emma has plenty of people who love her and that means the world to me. It will be hard for her to ever feel unloved because her family is so big. Some say blood is thicker than water, but I have learned that is not the case. Anyone can be a part of your family.

Little faker

Thursday, March 29th, 2007

Emma occasionally likes to pretend that she is asleep. She really thinks that she is fooling me. Unfortunately she doesnt realize that I can see that she has her eyes cracked open a little bit and is smiling. She holds completely still, pretending to be asleep! Little faker.

big move

Tuesday, March 13th, 2007

So now that I’ve got this job, after some saving, Mike and I will be able to afford to move into a bigger apartment. The one that we just looked at last week is HUGE and CHEAP. It is called a 2 bedroom, but it technically has 3. It also has a living room and a dining room (and bathroom and kitchen of course). It is seriously as big as the first floor of a small house. I am so freaking excited to move out in May. We werent allowed to take pictures since someone is in the process of moving out, but I will post some pictures once i get them. It is lead safe and everything. I am so excited since we will finally be able to have guests over since we will actually have room for them. Mike and I also love to cook, so having a larger kitchen is a definite plus. This move is going to be hard though since it is our 3rd move in the last year and we lead very busy lives.

Emma also hit the big 6 months on sunday. She had her shots today, which of course were not fun. The ped told us that she was doing great and they were very impressed by her health. I find it so interesting that although I had some problems during my pregnancy Emma turned out just fine. It feels great to have a healthy baby. Just one less thing for me to worry about.

What Emma deserves

Friday, February 23rd, 2007

I’ve been thinking a lot about the fact that Emma doesn’t have two sets of Grandparents recently. Emma woke up while Rhea and I were doing homework together and was very agitated. I think that she was just sick of being home. So we decided to go for a ride. We went to Caribou, but they were just closing. We still did not want to go home so we called Rhea’s parents to see if we go visit them since they love seeing Emma so much. While we were there I decided to ask them if they would be Emma’s second set of Grandparents. They said yes! and now Emma has the two sets of Grandparents that she deserves. Thank you Mark and Lynda! I guess in a way this makes Rhea and I sisters.

Baby Cereal

Saturday, January 13th, 2007

Emma has discovered the joy of eating oatmeal for the first time. She just can’t get enough of the stuff. She hates being fed with a spoon, so I am just feeding it to her with my finger. She gets it all over her face and stuffs her mouth with her hand or bib while I am getting her more food. Needless to say, she is quite a mess by the time that we are done eating. Personally, I think the cereal looks nasty, but she enjoys it and that is the most important thing.

Can you believe it’s been 1 year!?

Thursday, January 4th, 2007

It’s official, Mike and I are celebrating our one year anniversary today. Where did the last year go?! It went by so fast! So much has happened over the last year. Emma’s birth is the biggest thing, on top of that we have moved twice, one of those times was a move out of Greg and Edrie’s and into our own apartment. We also got a cat from the humane society. Before we know it Emma will be a year old and I will be looking back at another year in shock, wondering where it went. I think that the older I get the faster time goes by. I have had a lot of good and bad experiences over the past few years; I like to think that the good outweighs the bad.

People say that the first year of marriage can be the hardest, and a pregnancy can only escalate that. Of course Mike and I have had our arguments and hard times, but in the end we still love each other. We intend to stick by each other through thick and thin, and so far we have. In fact, we have done it for a whole year of married life!!! It’s a fun milestone; one that will be a cause for much celebration between the two of us. If the rest of our life reflects how well our first year went, then we are in for a treat (and the adventure of a lifetime).

3 months old!

Monday, December 11th, 2006

Can you believe that is has already been 3 months since Emma was born? It went by so fast! She gets cuter by the day. She has been talking (baby talk) much more recently. She has also been gargling, it’s the cutest thing. Emma also loves to smile. I think that is the best thing about her getting older. It is wonderful to see her smile at you once you go and pick her up in the morning. She is always so happy to see me (and daddy!). She sleepsabout 7-9 hours per night so I am getting plenty of sleep. When she wakes up it is only for a couple of minutes to get something to eat and get her diaper changed. Then she goes right back to sleep. She is such an easy baby. I love it. If only all babies were this easy!
