I’m pretty sure that I have what may be called an obsession with daffodils. Daffodils seriously make my heart happy and bring a smile to my face. If a guy ever wanted to really win my heart…daffodils would be the way to do it.
One of my favorite things to do in the spring is to visit a nearby town where there is a place called Daffodil Hill. I am practically giddy when I am there, surrounded by the happiest flowers on earth.

At the present moment, I have 5 or 6 bouquets of daffodils in my house. The house up the road is currently unoccupied and the yard is full of different kind of daffodils, so I have been rescuing the flowers before they get beaten down by the wind and the rain. Did you know that there are at least 12 different divisions of daffodils? Did you care?
And there are numerous varieties and colors of flowers within each division.
I will conclude my scattered musings about daffodils with my favorite poem by William Wordsworth.
The Daffodils
I wandered lonely as a cloud
That floats on high o’er vales and hills,
When all at once I saw a crowd,
A host, of golden daffodils,
Beside the lake, beneath the trees,
Fluttering and dancing in the breeze.Continuous as the stars that shine
And twinkle on the milky way,
They stretched in never-ending line
Along the margin of a bay:
Ten thousand saw I at a glance
Tossing their heads in sprightly dance. The waves beside them danced, but they
Out-did the sparkling waves in glee:
A Poet could not be but gay
In such a jocund company!
I gazed – and gazed – but little thought
What wealth the show to me had brought:For oft, when on my couch I lie
In vacant or in pensive mood,
They flash upon that inward eye
Which is the bliss of solitude;
And then my heart with pleasure fills,
And dances with the daffodils.
My name is Rhonda. I am blessed to live in a beautiful place out in the country with my wonderful husband. In addition to our "real" jobs (I work at a garden center and he is a teacher), we have a small farm where we raise vegetables, eggs and chickens to sell at local Farmer's Markets. We are currently fixing up/remodeling a house into which we will soon be moving...hopefully. In my free time, (what is that?) I enjoy traveling, cooking, crafty projects, reading and watching the sun set on the hills.
I loooooove that poem, Rhonda — and the picture! So cute!
No, I did not know; yes, I do care. And am I jealous?
Most definitely.
I saw some daffodils yesterday at the Birmingham airport, though! I was very excited… even though they ARE an hour away from me.
Gotta start somewhere!
