If I only bought products whose commercials I liked…I probably wouldn’t buy much. But I would never go to Jack in the Box. Jack really bugs me.
There is a line from one of their commercials from a few years back that my sister and I thought was ridiculous. For some reason it replays itself in my head:
“Our milkshakes have enough creamy butterfat to lube a tractor”.
What?
Is that really what I’m looking for in a milkshake? I like milkshakes and I know that they are fattening, but do you think I want to be reminded of how much fat they have?
I’m trying to think of commercials that I do love…but I’m not coming up with any.
So, I guess I won’t set some new rule for myself that I can only buy products that have good commercials.
What commercials or advertising campaigns do you hate or love?
My name is Rhonda. I am blessed to live in a beautiful place out in the country with my wonderful husband. In addition to our "real" jobs (I work at a garden center and he is a teacher), we have a small farm where we raise vegetables, eggs and chickens to sell at local Farmer's Markets. We are currently fixing up/remodeling a house into which we will soon be moving...hopefully. In my free time, (what is that?) I enjoy traveling, cooking, crafty projects, reading and watching the sun set on the hills.
I’m currently drawing blanks on the ones that I really hate, and I know there are a few out there, but you got to go with the new Guinness commercials for ones to love. From what I have heard it being described as taste wise, I won’t be drinking any(I don’t really drink at all), but at I chuckle when the commercials come on.
there are all manner of commercials that I hate.. the worst ones are on the radio.. and use the annoying voices and music.. there is one for a car care place here.. and the commercial goes
“does your car sound like this *cue SUPER ANNOYING WOMANS VOICE* CATINK CATINK CATANK!”
its so stupid.. I want to smack the taste out of whoevers mouth came up with that ad.. its awful..

there’s a minute maid commercial i blogged about on 4/28/04….
“a family is sitting around having breakfast. the parents are drinking minute maid orange juice with calcium. the little boy does not want to drink it because he thinks the calcium makes the juice not taste sweet anymore saying ‘i don’t believe you.’. the mom asks ‘who would you believe?.’ the kid says ‘i don’t know, robert loggia?’ in walks robert loggia with that deep scratchy voice ‘billy….your mom’s right. minute maid with calcium still tastes sweet. plus its good for you.’ the kid says excitedly ‘wow, thanks mr loggia.’ then robert loggia says ‘you’re welcome. enjoy your breakfast,’ then he turns around to walk out and the parents thank him. then the commercial goes ‘minute maid orange juice with calcium, still tastes sweet’ or something like that.”
its so random, i love it.

the only commercial that i have laughed out loud recently too is the starbucks doubleshot drink. you know where the one where glen wakes up and survivor starts singing “Eye of the Tiger” like song tailored just for our friend, glen.
too bad i don’t like coffee.
