Did you celebrate the holiday yesterday? It was National Pie Day. (Thanks to Bex for letting me know.)
When I told my sweet husband (who is a math teacher) that it was National Pie Day, he said, “No, that’s not until March 14th. 3.14 Pi day.” Math nerds have their own holidays apparently.I personally am more of a fan of pie than I am of pi. But that’s just me.
In honor of this day, I will give you a link to a previous post I wrote:
All this talk of pie reminds me that I still have the $80 Kitchen Store gift card that I won for the pie contest. I should really spend that.
I will leave you with a picture of a pear crumb pie. And I will let you in on a secret. The special ingredient in pear pie is mace.

My name is Rhonda. I am blessed to live in a beautiful place out in the country with my wonderful husband. In addition to our "real" jobs (I work at a garden center and he is a teacher), we have a small farm where we raise vegetables, eggs and chickens to sell at local Farmer's Markets. We are currently fixing up/remodeling a house into which we will soon be moving...hopefully. In my free time, (what is that?) I enjoy traveling, cooking, crafty projects, reading and watching the sun set on the hills.
I am so glad you alerted us here on the farmgirl site about pie day. Now I have almost a year to get ready for the next one! That pear crumb pie looks fabulous. Mace is the perfect spice for pear pie. It is good in so many things…..

You’re so welcome. But did you make a pie?
I did not know that yesterday was national pie day until I read your post at Mary-Jane’s forum. I didn’t even know there was such a recognition.
I did eat pie yesterday, so I guess celebrated without knowing it.
Happy (late) Pie Day!
Belle
Oh my goodness! That looks delectable! I am so impressed that you won a pie contest! I don’t think I’ve made a pie in 20 years, and I’ve probably only made 3 in my life. Thanks for the secret to good pear pie, though. The secret to excellent homemade mac ‘n’ cheese is a touch of nutmeg and a tiny bit of sherry.
