Today, in 1647, the Westminster Confession of Faith was completed.

I’ve been having some discussion about creation, and whether or not the account of it in Genesis – Adam included – is literal.
I don’t want to sound arrogant, but man, I sure am glad that there are so many ignorant, non-thinking Christians. It is far more comforting to me to know that they believe Adam was a myth and yet still confess the gospel, rather than the logical outcome of their beliefs, which is not Christianity at all.

After reading this post about mp3s on amazon.com, I downloaded a few Ron Block songs.
I love it. Very bluegrass, and a voice reminiscent of Andrew Peterson – one of my favorite singer/songwriters. Ron Block is part of Union Station, Alison Krauss’ band.

Jamie Bevill used to have a blog that was all in haiku. It talked about her daily experiences and thoughts and everything else like a plain blog, but it was expressed all in haikus.
That was so cool.

I’ve been listening to the 2003 AAPC talks. This evening I finished up Dr. Pipa’s talk, and then the discussion session that followed it. It was somewhat disheartening.
After Dr. Pipa finished his talk, he prayed. I noticed that in his prayer, among other things, he prayed that if his assessment of Wilkin’s view was wrong, that there would be clarification on what Wilkins’ believes. And if he was not wrong, that Wilkins’ eyes would be opened to his errors and he would repent.
Did it seem strange to anyone else that he didn’t even consider the option that he might be wrong? What about opening his eyes if he’s wrong?

Here are a few ideas I had this evening in the car on my way home from work. Let me know what you think.
Regarding Adam’s Merit
Adam would have, through his obedience, merited ‘salvation’ in the same sense that we today merit salvation through our faith. Both are received through God’s gracious covenant dealings with man, and not through some sort of achievement apart from that.
Regarding Justification by Faith Alone
As a theological abstraction, it is a Biblical concept. But as such, it can only exist up there, floating around between our ears. A justifying faith is never alone, and in the real world – where we talk to each other and touch our neighbors – it is impossible for it to be distinguished from a life patterned by obedience to God’s word.

Blogger doesn’t publish my archives. I get the following error…
Error 203:java.lang.NumberFormatException: (server:page)
So don’t blame me.

I want to recommend buy.com. I never ordered from them until just recently. Last tuesday night was the first time. I ordered a book and a firewire cable, both of which were cheaper with buy than with amazon. They also offered free shipping, like amazon.com.
Only, the free shipping doesn’t take forever to get to you. On Monday, I saw something at buy that was just what I wanted, and had a rebate. Only buy didn’t have any in stock. I checked with amazon, and they had one left… for a few dollars more. I ordered it from amazon.com, using “super saver” shipping. Then I signed up for buy’s notification when it came back in stock. Super saver shipping is ridiculous, but it’s free so hey… I use it. I ordered on Monday, and the item was scheduled to ship out on the 22nd… next Tuesday. They estimated I would recieve it on Friday, the 25th.
Well, Wednesday – yesterday – I got the notification from buy. I made sure I could still cancel my amazon.com order (which I could) and then ordered the same item from buy.com for a few dollars cheaper. Today, Thursday – the day after I ordered – my item has already shipped, and I am hopeful to recieve it tomorrow, but certainly I will get it by Monday. This was also free shipping.
So there you have it. With buy.com, I saved a few dollars and should have my purchase in my hands before amazon was even going to put it in the mail.
