Vultures swooped down and stole the sweet house away. *sigh* It is particularly embarrassing because I was sooooooo sure we had it in the bag. Now I am wondering if we will find a house as cute, or maybe I should use a different word–with as much character, for such a perfect price. Maybe the vultures will be eaten by larger vultures, though… ;^)

By the end of next month, this house may be the new Okimoto home.

Exciting!

All parties were a success, bar one for one person. Geneva is still practically excommunicated, so she wasn’t allowed to really celebrate the Lord’s Supper with the other members of Christ’s body.
So, aside from that, the weekend was amazing. Everyone had a great, greaty time.
And I feel pain with every step from playing ultimate frisbee.

This weekend has been dubbed by me Postmillennial Weekend. Why?
Because we will party hardy. Five parties.
Last night we had catechism study at an elder’s house, and then stayed there until after 11 eating, drinking and fellowshiping. Tonight we were at a party next door celebrating the graduations of Dr. Gordon Wilson and his daughter, Brooke. Tomorrow, after we celebrate the Lord’s Supper, we’ll meet at a nearby park for a Church picnic. This is a sort of fairwell picnic for the Wilson’s, but also just a chance to celebrate the nice weather. Then, Monday, we’re going over to a kirker’s house to grill out and basically just enjoy God’s goodness to us, and one another.
Party Party Party.

We have begun our look for a house. On Monday we spoke with a broker to get prequalified for a mortgage. So we’d know just how much we can spend and so forth. Tuesday we talked with a realtor, and she got some listings to us yesterday. Saturday we have our first appointment to look at a house.
The first item on our list of what we want in a house is to be close to someone else from church. For the past two years we have lived right across the street and right next to some members of our church. It has been fantastic. Really. And that isn’t something we’re willing to give up.
The house we’re looking at saturday shares a backyard (except for an ugly chain linked fence between them. Megan and I were talking last night about removing the fence and have huge parites in our unified backyard. That would rock my face off.) with a family from church, and another family lives just down the street. It’d be nice to find some thing so close to church family so quickly.

“What do you mean, ‘Why do I believe reason is a valid method of detemining truth?’ What kind of question is that?”
“Well, earlier you said that I was commiting a logical fallacy because I believe the Word of God is evidence that God exists. You said I was begging the question.”
“Yeah! You were! You are!”
“You are doing the exact same thing.”
“How so?”
“Okay, look, you have said that you use reason or logic to determine truth. I asked why reason is a valid means of determining truth. Whatever your answer, it is self defeating. You can either use reason to determine whether or not reason can determine truth, and thus find yourself begging the question, or you can use some other means to determine it, and thereby contradict the initial statement. Whatever the case, it doesn’t hold water.”
“What?”
“Your position that logic and reason are the means by which we determine truth is self defeating. You have no reason to believe that reason is valid.”
“You’re talking nonsense! Are you saying that we cannot trust logic?”
“No, of course not. I know we can use it, and I know why we can use it… because it is established by an immutable and sovereign God. What I am saying is that you are inconsistent in using logic. You have no reason to trust it.”

EP
I learned today that Eric Peters is releasing a new cd next month. Very exciting. His last album, Land of the Living, came out in 2001, and was my favorite cd that year, even among competitors like Mark Williams and Andrew Peterson.
The new album is called Miracle of Forgetting and is shipping June 3rd. It’s 13 dollars, and preorders are being accepted now.

Way back in this post I questioned why we’re always trying to get a deal from Christian brothers, and not wanting to give a deal.
Well, is it weird when you do that, and no acknowlegment is ever made about it?
Or am I just carnally minded?
