seeing the glory of God in the ordinary things of life

Have you received the latest Credenda, and read Nancy Wilson’s article on daughters in sports?

Then maybe you can tell me why baseball is inherently masculine, but basketball is not? If a girl can play basketball femininely, then why not baseball? In my judgment, it would be harder to maintain a ladylike appearance and attitude while playing basketball than baseball. And, what is it about softball that allows it to be played in biblically feminine way, but not baseball?

I agree with the principle of her article, that girls should still be godly ladies when they’re playing sports, but I wonder why she makes the judgments she does about some sports (but not boxing or football… those are obvious).

I heard Dr. Kenneth Gentry lecture on postmillennialism last night, at Christ College. I liked it. Too bad it was only an hour, though, because he had way more to cover than an hour would allow, and had to rush through much of it.

I asked him afterwards if he picked up the latest (and last) book in the Let Behind series. He didn’t even know it had been released. I only know because I heard it on the radio Tuesday on my way home from work.

I Say too much

I Say Too Much
by Eric Peters

no more than words, no less than air
cashed in early here
and got the market share
pounding out a message
with too much to say
I gotta get a grip
on the ones that got away

I stumble and I falter,
fumble and grasp
but I wind up coming across
just like a braying ass
words are just a bargain
to give you some ground
but sometimes
they don’t make a sound

I say too much
words that right, words that wrong
words that lift those limping along
I say too much

I pray to God
when worse comes to worse
these blessings
won’t turn into a deep, dark curse
out in the yard planting words to the wise
I’m scratched and bruised
from pulling up lies

I say too much
words can say, words can do
but sometimes
words make you look like a fool
I say too much

hold my tongue, I bit my lip
mind my words before I trip
did I say too much?
did I say too much?

I say too much
words that right, words that wrong
words that lift those limping along
I say too much
I say too much
