new blogger
I’ve been playing around with the new blogger a lot yesterday and today, and I have noticed that it takes a lot longer to publish. A whole lot longer.
Also, you can’t ‘post’ without also ‘publishing’. You can save drafts, but that isn’t the same thing. In the old version, I could edit a bunch of posts, ‘post’ them, and then publish them altogether when I was finished. Now each one has to be published, and since publishing takes so much longer, it’s quite a pain in the neck.
I discovered this by going back and enabling comments on my old posts that have comments… I thought I’d switch some of the haloscan comments over to blogger’s comments, and then get rid of the haloscan thing. At least for a while. But that’s annoying.
Also, about blogger comments, You can’t put your name in. It lets you sign as anonymous or, for me, richard. You also can’t put in a webpage or email address, which is kind of a pain. If you use blogger, it links to your blogger profile (if you don’t post as anonymous), and you can have your website or email there if you want. But I don’t want. Also, they should make it an option to have comments pop up in a new window. That’s nice… keeps you from having to go back and forth if there are several posts with comments.

ixnay on recent posts
I don’t think recent post links are really all that worthwhile. Maybe on some blog formats they are… but not mine. So that’s one feature I don’t have to worry about in considering a new template to take into account these new features…
