Where I discuss: flying rules
We’re home, safe and sound. We had a wonderful trip, the girls loved playing with their cousins and meeating their aunt and uncles. A stark contrast in the behavior between my kids and their cousins was noticed. I’m thankful to see that we really are doing something right, and on guard against thinking we’re doing it all right. I’m scared to see the differences ten years from now.
I learned a few new things on the flights there and back…
There is a new federal regulation that first class passengers can only use the lavatory in the front of the plane, and main cabin passengers can only use the one in the back. Federal regulation and all, very important business, that.
Federal standardization of security is anything but standardized. Each airport is something different, apparently.
A babybjorn carrier is not ‘an approved device’, and so a baby cannot be in one for take off and/or landing. Instead, the baby has to just sit on your lap, facing forward. Much safer that way, ya know.
There is only one extra oxygen mask in each row, so if two women with babies happen to be in the same aisle, it’s a no go. “Someone has to move before we take off”.
