girls
So, here’s a shot at photo journaling. With commentary.
Last night while the girls were earthily playing, G. found something that she needed to show me.

It was a snail. “It’s a snail, Daddy!”

And A., being the Ever Follower of G., decided she had something show me, too. She said, “I have a rock, Daddy!”.

spring flung
Turns out the free lunch was not pizza. It was hamburgers and hotdogs. I was sent away the first time I tried to get in line… they weren’t ready yet. Then I went through twice.

calvinism
I just saw a calvinistic baptist say this on a forum.. “It’s not an issue of soteriology, so why would there be any Calvinists position on this issue?”
ugh. As though calvinism were only about getting ‘saved’. I need to get back to work on my new five points of calvinism.

swords
Yesterday evening, the girls were outside playing hard. A few times they came carrying various things to show Megan and me. At one point, Geneva came to the door holding a stick and said, “This is my sword!”. Ashley shortly followed (as is pretty much always the case with A. these days… doing everything G. does), and made the same comment.
Only, she wasn’t holding a stick. She was holding a leaf. And it was a leaf that must have fallen off the tree a few days ago, because it was all limp and wilted. So she was holding the stem of it, and the rest of the leaf was draped over her hand.

spring fling
it is spring fling today. it is raining, so it will be in the cafeteria. I don’t care… I only go because there is free pizza. Of course, the lat few times they were so cheap that I only got one or two pieces. How do they expect me to survive on that?

evil pets 2
So I picked up a slingshot the other day, and armed myself with an 88¢ box of runts. I didn’t want marbles, because they’ll shatter. I didn’t want ‘hunting shot’, because I don’t want dead cats. I seriously considered paint balls, but didn’t want to have to deal with angry neighbors with paint soaked pets. Plus, what if I missed? Then I’d have paint all over my property.
So I went with the runts. Small, out of the way, poor. wait. small, mostly round, biodegradable, nonlethal, and cheap. Cheaper than all the other options by at least 50%.
So I’ve been shooting runts at cats the past day and a half, and while my aim is steadily improving, they are steadily becoming more wary of my presence. It won’t be long…

dsl update2
Service Ready Date is tentatively May 4th, which is Wednesday. In the meantime, I’ve changed our current isp service plan to no dialup minutes. Which basially means our email will remain active, but we need some other internet access to use it. That’s about 40% the ordinary cost, so I figure I’d do that for a month until we get settled in with dsl, and tell everyone about our new email address.
But, that means we’ll have a few days where we won’t be able to signon from home. I’ll still check email from work for those few days… but poor megan won’t be able to get her iFix.
We should be getting the package with all the junk today, via UPS.

speed read
Some time ago I ran across this test, to measure how fast you read. I read 199 words per minute, which is average. I just took the test again, and I’m up to 243 wpm… Speed Reader!
However, I did get 91% comprehension, which ain’t too shabby.

titles.
putting titles on all my posts is going to be tough getting used to. I don’t have to do it, of course, but it will make managing posts a whole lot easier, plus, currently, if I don’t title a post, there is no permalink available. And I don’t want that.
um… like I just forgot to title this…

new blog.
With this new blog, I have a new goal. Only, the goal isn’t really new… I’ve had it for about a year and a half. But now it is outspoken and more deliberate than ever. What is this goal?
To see the glory of God in the ordinary things of life. The first instance on this new and improved blog is the decision about the theme to use. There is a picture of grass at the top. I chose it because it is about as ordinary as you can get, and it glorifies God.
The lawn-mowing season has begun. I have cut my grass three times now this season (and sprayed weed-killer once). I cut it, and it grows right back. A week is all I can wait, or else my mower won’t be able to get the job done (and sometimes it can’t even after just a week). I think about all the amazing things going on in each blade of grass; in each cell of each blade of grass. And how quickly it grows. You can almost watch it grow it is so fast.
And the weed killer is another God-glorifying ordinary thing. I mix this stuff together, spray it all over, and it kills the things I don’t want around and leaves the grass to grow and be happy. How does it do that? Well, I’m sure someone knows. But I don’t. I just see the little guys start squirming around, and I glory in it.
