primer primer

   Posted by: richard   in Movies

I thought I’d mention that the movie I posted about earlier this week, Primer was written and directed by Shane Carruth. Shane is a christian man.

It’s wonderfully exciting for me to see this film that is of such high caliber (though, perhaps could have been improved with a slightly higher budget… it only cost $7000 to make) being produced by a christian. Finally!

And it’s not preachy or even explicitly christian in theme. It’s just a quality movie about the human predicament. Tells a good story, and teaches valuable lessons as well. My friend Tim wrote a very good review. Be sure you watch the film before reading it, though!

Megan (preparing dinner): Geneva, why don’t you go in your room and read some books for a little while.
Geneve: Mom… I want to read the Bible.

Richard (a very happy daddy).

Knights of the Old Republic

Posted by: richard   in Everyday Things, Movies

George Lucas said he was finished with the Star Wars movies. Ebert didn’t believe him, Karina didn’t get it, but more importantly - WE wanted more. Stupid Us. It seems George Lucas told a scooper that he has an idea for another add-on to the Star Wars movie series: a prequel to The Phantom Menace. The story would follow the Jedi regaining control of the universe from the many Dark Lords some 88 years before Anakin Skywalker ever graced the universe. Yoda, who, according to Lucas, was instrumental in the effort, would apparently have a headlining role. However, Lucas, now age 60, says he won’t be captaining such a ship if it ever happens.

sleep.

I am happy to report that last night, I only woke up once. And it was around three, which means I had a good long period of sleep before then. Nice. I even killed two birds with one stone then, as I took Ashley back to her own bed and got Fiona out of hers’ so she could eat.

Nice.

no sleep

Posted by: richard   in Everyday Things

Last night was about the worst night of sleep I have ever had. Kids waking up left and right, waking up other kids, kicking screaming and refusing to be comforted… blow out diapers, no extra diapers in our room, taking the nuclear diaper far far away…

We must have woken up at least a dozen times last night.

write down your pw

“Since not all systems allow good passwords, I am going to pick a really crappy one, use it everywhere and never change it,” Johansson said. “If I write them down and then protect the piece of paper–or whatever it is I wrote them down on–there is nothing wrong with that. That allows us to remember more passwords and better passwords.”
