connect
I have cards that add up to 13 free downloads from Sony’s Connect music store. I got 8 with my laptop, and I’ve had a card for 5 for a while now. Anyhow… I’ve never gotten around to signing up for the store because it took so long to download all the parts for each page. The iTunes store took a while, but it wasn’t even as bad. So last night, now that I’ve got zippy internet access, I was registering. But, man, it is really annoying all the drm crap you have to deal with. When you sign up with the connect store you have to register your computer to access it, etc. etc. It’s really a bother.
Plus, you have to access the store through Sony’s SonicStage software, which is just frumpy and difficult to work with anyhow. I use it for part of our sermon processing. The church has a nice HiMD minidisc player, which allows for highspeed transfer of live recordings. But you have to do that through SonicStage. I then convert to wav and burns cds and make the mp3 from that. It’s all very cool, and fast. But, SonicStage… bloated and awkward. So the store is pretty much like that, too.
But… 13 free songs, right? Can’t let that go to waste.
