exercise

So, yesterday was the first day of my new exercise regimen. I say regimen, but it isn’t really a regimen, I don’t think. I don’t have a plan, really. Except to lose weight.

Yesterday I took G&A in the jogging stroller for a job. Only… I ran maybe a quarter of a mile before I felt like my heart was going to explode. So I walked the rest of what I guess is a mile. Maybe a little more.

But, man… talk about seriously being out of shape. If I don’t change this, I won’t be able to keep up with the kiddos when we go to the park or something. Pathetic. I weighed myself last night, and I’m about 258 pounds now, which is the most I’ve ever weighed. In high school I was under 200. But I don’t want to be that lanky now. I’m six-five, so it’s not like I look hugely fat or anything… but I’ve got myself a nice sized belly.

I’m gonna shoot for 230, and see what that’s like. What’s a reasonable time frame to do that? One guy I know online lost 32lbs in four months… maybe that’ll be my goal.

portion size and exercise. Hey, they even rhyme. Someone should make a jingle out of that.

You’re 6’5″? It’s so funny the mental picture you get of cyber-acquaintances. With a name like Okimoto, I’ve always pictured you in Asian dimensions. :-p

yeah, when i first met him that’s what i thought too. :)

Richard is REALLY tall! I think I knew that before I met him, though.

My mom was six feet tall. It was always funny when people would show up at our house, expecting a little Japanese lady. Especially for the time we lived in Japan.

So, Okimoto is Japanese? My daughter, lover of all things Japanese, told me it was. Am I being impertinent to wonder about your geneology?

yeah.

we’re pretty touchy.

(actually, the only time i got annoyed was a year or two ago when two girls (probably jr. high) called and started making sounds that were supposed to be like asian people talking. that was really rude, and i think based on some form racism. i star 69ed them, though. hahahhaha…they were scared.)

^megan, again.

I’m so sorry. Please accept my apologies.

I love names and history and etymology so much, it’s so fun learning my own family history that tend to be too curious about other poeple. Right before Mike and I were married, we found out that his dad’s family is from the same small town in rural Alabama where my mom’s grandparents came from. Mom asked me, “Kelly, what are you going to do if you find out you’re cousins?” I said I’d marry him anyway since I never knew anyone besides my cousins that I wanted to marry. Well, I’m a Southerner, and you know the saying… “You might be a Southerner if you think the family reunion is a good place to look for a date.”

;-)

wait, wait…

you know i was joking, right?

you can be curious all you want…but i think richard only knows about japan because he lived there in high school (because his dad was in the army). also, he took japanese for a semester in college. i can say mcdonald’s in japanese. :^)
